I don't see the purpose in being a fanboy, but that's your prerogative.

Gigabyte states that the board supports that CPU. It may take a BIOS update or something, but that'd likely apply to most boards out there. Brand-wise, personally, I haven't had issues with Gigabyte. I usually buy boards by them or ASUS.

Main consideration for chipset is multiple GPUs. If you plan to get another card for SLI/Crossfire, then you should get a 990FX (technically the 990X is a happy medium, but it's rare). For single GPU, 970 is fine.

Anyone think the new GTX 780 Ti is actually somewhat of a bargain for the 3D Mark it outputs?

Guess my computer has a sleep issue. Seems to be pretty common for Win8.1 users from what I can tell. Will work on solving it after work.

It will only sleep if I set it manually. But I also have it set to sleep automatically after 20 min. Doesn't work. Tried to do some testing this morning w/ the sleep time set to 1 min. No luck. But on the way to work I was able to do a little research so I have a better idea of things to try later.

So is anyone here rocking a recent AMD CPU or APU instead of Intel? How's your box perform in that configuration?

Amd you so crazy.

So after registering a complaint with amd about not getting battlefield with my card I woke up to an email basically just saying contact your retailer it's not our problem. Well I just got out of bed and going to smoke a cig I got another email saying disregard that last email we will look into it. Fingers crossed that they come through.

I've seen a lot of people with the same issue, I myself was holding out on buying a newer AMD card to see the outcome of this, here's to hoping for the best outcome for you. Hey, a $60 game is a $60 game, especially if it's a game you want!

Solved my sleep issue. Appears to be some problem with Homegroups in Win8.1. Since I don't really use Homegroups I just left the one I was in. Problem solved.

Was also having issues with my computer locking up which seem to be related to uTorrent. Switched to qBittorent and all is good. Seemingly. I'll have to give it a week or so. But things seem A LOT better already.

So I was just in my system files and noticed that my system says 8 gigs of ram but only 3.45 gigs available. So I texted my friend that helped me put the computer together and he told me to just swap the placement, I swapped the stick to the way the mobo manual says for dual channel, reboot and still says 3.45. So I decided to call him and ask if it has anything to do with the fact that I'm running windows 7 32 bit, yep there's your problem.

So damn I have to upgrade. Maybe I'll go for windows 8.1 just for directx 11.2. I don't even know what games I'm going to be playing that use directx 11.2 though does anyone know where I can find a list?

You could also install Windows 7 x64 if you'd prefer to stick with 7. Back when I had 7 I thought copies of the OS came with both 32 and 64-bit DVDs? Maybe that changed.

I assume you got Win7 OEM Flex? There are separate 32 and 64 bit versions. It's your call if you wanna go with 8.1, but I can tell you I'm happy to be back with 7 (64).
