I picked up a 8GB sony memory card super cheap because it came with no package from some seller with a pricegrabber storefront (seller was Digitalgoods). I suspect it was a referb. Long and short- it only kind of works. I'm sure if i was just transferring texts for papers or whatever it would work fine... but it runs only a handful of games. And even the games that it runs don't always work the first time. I had to try multiple transfers in order to get them to work. Which sucked because a game like star ocean is a gig- which takes 20 minutes to transfer. It'll run the game, but freeze on the square title. My 4 gb generic card ran it like a champ first try.

I think i'm going to head out to target to pay way too much for only 8GB tomorrow.

Do you guys know if the psp can handle "mark 2" memory stick pro duo cards? I really don't know what the difference is between the two cards.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

I've had no end of problems with Sony brand memory sticks. My 4GB Sony memory stick won't boot PSX games. At all. Loads ISOs and all other homebrew fine.

My Sandisk 4GB one loads everything. Not a problem. The exact same PSX games that won't load on the Sony will load without a hitch on my Sandisk one.

I think it's more to do with the brand to be honest. The Sony brand memory sticks are just shockingly bad. Apparantly transfer speeds aren't as good unless you pay through the nose for the 'hi-speed' ones. Even then they aren't much faster than the Sandisk's.

I don't think i'm ever going to buy anything Sony branded ever again. Everything I've had from them has been absolutely shocking. PS1 - broke. PS2-DREs had to soft mod it just to keep playing games on it. Minidisc player, buttons stopped working on it after just a year. Sony Trinitron tube bust after just 2 years. Sony walkman - disk read errors after just a year. VCR - seek errors(aka it chews tapes up if you try to rewind them) after 1 year. Sony Hi-Fi CD player - refused to read any CDs - got laser adjusted by professional - lasted another year before the drive mechanism gave up the ghost. You get the picture. Everything I've ever had that was Sony has lasted for the warrenty period then died. The only things that have lasted longer have been the consoles, but with them it's just a matter of time anyway. Maybe i'm just really unlucky but it's enough to put me off the brand for life.

That is a laundry list of problems. I don't think i've ever really owned a sony product other than the playstation 1 2 and psp. I had 2 ps1s after one died on me. I think i've been through 5 ps2 over the course of the last 4ish years. I was buying used so I don't know if thats the problem or not... but they would seem to break pretty consistantly. I got a new ps2 slim last year, but i don't play it much anymore. It is still running (or collecting dust). PSP is new to me, but a used white vader. So I know it isn't super old, but not new either. I hope it doesn't shit out on me like the consoles did.

Thanks for the heads up on the cards. I figured a sony card would be good for a sony product. I'll probably pick up a scandisc one.

I'm unsure if you can make the PSP output to a TV and remote joy at the same time, allthough I could check if you'd like. of course you'd have to CFW your slim to use remote joy in this case. on the other hand, if your PC outputs to a TV, or your PC monitor is big enough for you, then you'd be all set with your phat and remote joy.
I'm more interested in using the stick. Using my HRAP3 on a console about 2% of it's size would be ridiculous!
