My local GS guy flipped the disc, showed me several circles on it and asked "You weren't moving the console from room to room were you?".

I wasn't, and he gave me a new copy and said, "One touch push, nothing more". I still adhere to his rule to this day. My 360 model is a refurbished black Elite model which doesn't look much like the shiny black square models. Something about the "newer" 360 models look cheap. They might be more reliable, but I like the lines on the older model.

This is hilarious because my favorite game so far is Resogun.

"Pays $400 for a new PS4.....to play games with the simplest graphics"

This needs to be a Meme or something. BTW, I'm glad you got a working PS4 now.

I think this is the direction this gen needs to go. Might be on the horizon with the indie movement and all, I can only hope.

I've watched my roommate play Killzone / Asscreed 4 and it just kind of makes me laugh a little I guess. I don't even know if they look as good as some stuff off my PC I built this year, which I did drop a bit on but nothing outstanding. I don't quite think I'm trying to say "consoles finally caught up", but rather graphics have kind of hit a bit of a wall lately. The biggest improvements I'm seeing are framerates and colors/lighting. But other than that, the next "big step" is going to be when gaming looks completely realistic or something.

If any of that makes sense? Will the average gamer even notice? Who knows and I'm sure most of us saw this coming anyways. Graphical leaps were more noticeable up to this point.

Granted graphics are never the selling point for me and this new hardware has a lot to be unlocked... it's impressive how far devs were able to stretch out the PS3/360 here. Looking back on some launch titles it's like you can find PS2 era games that look better and more detailed in ways, but the last year or so games have looked pretty damn good. So there's a lot of improvement to be seen with the PS4/One I'm sure, but I hope we start seeing focus in other areas.

Yeah hit a wall for sure, not sure how i feel, but the PS4/XboxOne is nothing to get overly excited about.

Here's a video showing CoD: Ghosts comparison on 360/ps3/pc/ps4:

Anyone try Knack yet? Don't feel like I can trust reviews on this one so I'd like to get impressions.

I think we'll still see a big focus on graphics as long as it continues to sell games.

I don't have a problem with that either. There's no shortage of interesting games, new or old, and new rendering techniques will eventually allow us to play completely different types of games than we do now. Pretty games are way too expensive to make though, so I expect it to take much longer than it has in the past.

Eh, yes and no. Things do get more complex and detailed, but at the same time, new tools are constantly being developed that make it easier and faster to get there...
