Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
Have there been any black Friday/cyber Monday deals announced for this system yet?
Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
I never thought they were categorised in different series, or brands, I thought all Mario platformers were basically Super Mario games , except the NEW Super Mario which was supposed to be like Super Mario 2.5D but I never thought it will be its own line of series/brand . I thought it was a one time thing to milk more sales, like they did Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition

They said they're not done with Galaxy in some articles recently.

I didn't play 3D Land, my friend informs me that there's a lot more different about it than just "Galaxy with a fixed camera" so disregard what I said.

That's awesome! If Super Mario Galaxy U (or if they DARE title it 3) came out I'd be really happy with that!Xeogred wrote:They said they're not done with Galaxy in some articles recently.
Yeah, I like to think of it as a hybrid between the 2D and 3D games. A better way to explain it is saying that it basically plays like the 2D games but in a 3D environment.AppleQueso wrote:I didn't play 3D Land, my friend informs me that there's a lot more different about it than just "Galaxy with a fixed camera" so disregard what I said.
If you haven't played it yet then I'm assuming you don't own a 3DS. But if you do own one, then you need to get on that!

I do own one, but I'd initially only nabbed it for Animal Crossing and the upcoming Zelda. I probably should indeed fix that.Ziggy587 wrote: If you haven't played it yet then I'm assuming you don't own a 3DS. But if you do own one, then you need to get on that!

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
There's tons of types of Mario games, because he's a mascot. But, the two main types are exploration based (Mario 64, Galaxy, Sunshine, etc) and platforming based (SMB3, SMW, NSBWU, etc). They're clearly different in goals.
3D Land was something a bit different, where they attempted to marry these ideas. However, they didn't keep exploration, so they much more favor the "Bros." type of game. 3D World is like an extension of that. It could be argued it's another new type of Mario game.
Though, in terms of landmark, groundbreaking, pinnacle, sort of Mario, obviously it isn't, it's just one of the more creative ones to be coming out. And a Galaxy 3 sounds awesome ... but I'd rather see what the next step of that would be, rather than just a sequel.
To me, Mario 3D World mostly feels like, "Let's just make a good fun Mario game while we work on the next big one" kind of deal. Not that it's not a large game or anything like that, but clearly it's no evolutionary to the series. And it'll be fun, I'm buying it. But I can understand people looking for that next step. I think they just need to be slightly patient.

I never knew 3D had a fixed camera... but to be honest that sounds kind of incredibly amazing. All the videos I've seen look fantastic. Also it's funny how much fun I've had going back to some PS2 games that have fixed camera angles and I can't help but still be a big fan.
But yeah, the combination sounds like it could be amazing if pulled off right.

The only things I've seen so far are offers for $20-25 back in points/gift cards with purchase.Opa Opa wrote:Have there been any black Friday/cyber Monday deals announced for this system yet?
Which is why I said "screw it" and bought the damn thing early.

Hurray for birthday money.

Are the Mario and Luigi U games both on-disc in that package? Or are they installed to the hard drive? That bundle looks really nice...
