XCOM: Enemy Unknown (on 360/PS3)
Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown (on 360/PS3)
Within is definitely a kick in the nuts compared to Unknown. Especially on Classic and Impossible; they upped the research time for everything but the initial projects available on those difficulties so you spend the entire game underequipped. I'm still trying to figure out the optimal research path to take.

Kudos to anyone who got through EU on ironman. The game is buggy as all hell and I don't have the patience.

Buggy? Besides some of the ending getting stuck bugs I haven't noticed many.Sload Soap wrote:Kudos to anyone who got through EU on ironman. The game is buggy as all hell and I don't have the patience.

Might be that I'm on 360 but I've had five different game crashing/ending bugs and one that made my ironman save unplayable. The game is great otherwise though, just hate that I got so far only to have the game rendered useless. The patch didn't seem to help either.Jmustang1968 wrote:Buggy? Mechs are amazing (but expensive). MEC-2 is definitely worth getting on every mech, but you can probably skip MEC-3 unless you have Meld to spare.
I was a little disappointed with EXALT. I would have liked to see more EXALT mission types, maybe a three way battle between XCOM, the aliens, and EXALT. Difficulty-wise they plateau before the aliens do, so each covert op turned pretty boring and I was only doing them to narrow down EXALT to a single country.

that fishing town mission was super scary.
currently ironmanning Within on classic difficulty, w/second wave content. Already lost doing it once...
oh and OK there's an escort mission in which you go to china and the guy you're escorting KO's a sectoid with a pistol. then he tosses the pistol away and is defenseless for literally no reason

I restarted it 3 times and then decided I had to take a break. I got it down so that I could get to the transmitter thing with enough overwatch to keep me in check. But once you gotta flee in 8 turns I started getting overwhelmed by Chryssalids fast. Crazy mission.Gooseberrysoda wrote:that fishing town mission was super scary.
