Which stage are you guys having trouble with? Pretty much every non-boss enemy is shooting aimed bullets at you, not patterns. Just move slowly to one side, and nothing can kill you. Even the large enemies that appear to shoot patterns are just shooting aimed shots with "walls", so that if you dodge too wide, you will hit something.

Once you reach the side of the screen, move up quickly, and back down, and you should create a gap in the aimed bullets that you can easily move through. The magic "infinity" or "figure 8" method of moving will get you quite far in this game. If you are moving too fast, then the aimed bullets will be spread out and wreck havoc on you.

Even when shit starts moving too fast for you to see, just stick to the same movement pattern, and be prepared to bomb.

I know, I know, we aren't supposed to be helping each other, but I want everyone to feel the Cave love.

What a frustrating run. No missed through literally the last hit of the 3rd boss. Was watching his health meter and thought he was done and I was shaking - went to run my hands through my hair in relief that i'd made it through...and he wasn't dead, got nicked by literally the last bullet on screen, tapped my shot button once and he died. Absolutely sickening feeling. It must have been the end of pattern of course and not that he was dead. Just sick.

Been using the first option, the red ship. He takes much longer to kill midbosses and bosses, but for some reason, I survive better. I think the blue ship must be just a hair too fast maybe. Odd that the fastest most powerful option is my worst for survival.

Anyways, stage 5 midboss, but missed the no miss bonus on stage 3 and 4, so the score stinks. Stage 5 needs work - I did fairly well for a first time, but the enemies are all new and these sleeping mantis massive plants that just sprout from nowhere with walls of bullets are brutal.

I'm playing the 360 port and just got around a 5.8 mil score on stage 4 (died @ the dragonflies) but it didn't let me enter my initials. :?: It would have been the highest score on my table as I mostly used to play the (superior) ver 1.5. Anyone else ever run into this problem? I didn't pause or restart or anything, just a straight forward run. :?
EDIT: Turned on automatic save replays and it seems to be saving my scores now.

Alright, I think everyone who needed the mame files has them. I'm locking down my FTP now.

If you didn't get them let me know and I'll help you out. Offer only applies to people in this stgt.

You're welcome. The real credit goes to dunpeal though; I just "donated" some server space :)

Gonna give this another hour to try and clear it - but got some other boards that I really want to give time to this weekend as I don't play much during the week.

Doc is running away with it again - unreal. Are you no missing the first 4 stages, Doc? You have 2+ mil more than I do and only about 30 secs further along in the game. I can no miss 1 and 2 pretty regular, but only once have I no missed 3. I did notice stage 5 the points add up much faster - i'm sure getting to the boss is part of it...

I think I no-missed the first three stages in that run. Lots of points available in the last stage as well.

Looking at some replays, it seems there are various spots you can milk for extra points, but I think I'll concentrate on getting the 1CC first before I try anything fancy...
