Whenever I hit a wall, or get frustrated, I actually start doing worse.

Most often I find that coming back to it later or even the next day will yield positive results. Usually, my 1st run is the best after taking a break.

Yeah, my first run was like 3+ mil, then 4.5 mil, felt great, stopped for dinner and then 2+ hours of squadoosh.

Switched to the slow middle character, had like 3mil, then went back to blue and got 4.9.

mjmjr25 wrote:Yeah, this game isn't nearly as complex scoring wise as most CAVE stuff, after a few runs it becomes second nature what you need to tap shot and what you need to power shot.

After that, it's just picking up the gold on the ground, defeating large enemies when many bullets are on screen to cancel them out and turn into gold, and no missing the stages.

Pretty straightforward.

Straightforward to those who speak Cave. Now I don't expect a huge amount of strategy sharing, but my teammate Skate is trying his best to help me translate all this.

Here is my humble beginning score. Now I know what the people who couldn't even get a billion on Mars Matrix feel like --

1,274,206 - ExedExes - Team NES - Stage 2 - MAME

Perfect. I might steal that as an avatar for the weekend like I did with Creepy Valve Guy back when we did Half Life.

EDIT -- why the hell not. I really feel like a noob now

Well, I felt really bad about my score until I saw Exed post his. I still don't feel good about it, but at least I have a brother in suck, at this game. I always thought I would like this one more than Futari, but I can't track the bullets well enough in this one to keep stupid deaths out of my game, and I can't build up my score to an extend outside of boss milking. Screw that.

Sorry, Exed.

This is a tough game - I think a lot of us got out of the gate well, but it's different than most CAVE games in that it doesn't seem to have the same trap points, you can pretty much die anywhere.

One problem I was having earlier tonight was taking the first 2 stages seriously - the game doesn't really get difficult until stage 3, but if you aren't "into it" the first 2 stages, there's enough speed there you'll get got. The seeker popcorn enemies are tough - they come from the top right or top left angle and just force you to a corner. To avoid this, as your moving to the corner, nudge slightly upward, they'll follow you and you'll create a gap on the bottom where you can duck underneath and slide across to the other side.

Or better yet, take Fragems advice - if you don't move, the bullets will just go through you

Oh, and lets just get this out of the way.

The IBH avatar is epic. Get in where you fit in.

Was hoping to have more time for this before my weekend ended, but ended up only having time for 2 credits.

6,299,100 - Dunpeal2064 - Bhutanese Snow Ferrets - Stage 5 - UME

Like many others, I am finally in my comfort zone. For some reason, I've never really played this one much. This run was my first time seeing stages 4 & 5, and they are both fantastic. I think the Stage 4 ost is one of my new favorites.

Also, for those using UME, I had the setting mixed up with Futari. This one is supposed to be at 63, Futari is the one that is 62. Not a huge difference, but a little slowdown helps!

PREACH IT brother. My biggest issues is also tracking. They move too fast in many different places, not like at a boss where you'd most likely expect it. I will honestly say I won't expect much improvement in my score. I expect to see Stage 3 but that's about it. I am unabashedly old school in my shmup ways.
