I use the F310 and really like it. The D-pad is FAR superior to any 360 controller I have ever used. Let's put it this way - the D-pad is good enough that can play through classic-series Mega Man games with it.
One caveat: I will say that I don't particularly like the thumb sticks on this controller. They seem to have too big a dead zone. You might be able to configure that problem away though - I don't know, I mostly use the D-pad.
Edit: I almost forgot! There is also a switch on the back of the controller that will let you go from X-input to Direct Input as necessary. It's a great feature to have!

The Dualshock 4 is supported out of the box. Nice, but I'd rather wait for drivers that makes it compatible with XInput games if someone bothers to code it.
The new X1 pad looks nice as well, but I'm reserving judgment on its d-pad.

yeah that switch is the main reason I keep an F310 around. But honestly, I really like the 360 pad as far as comfort goes. And I'm not nearly as bothered by the dpad as most folks seem to be. I use the dpad on Magical Drop V all the time and I have no problem destroying mjmjr25.

The whole reason I built a gaming PC is because you promised me hours and hours of Magical Drop V. What gives?

Re: Recommendations on a PC gamepad?
Many have recommended the Xbox 360 pad already so I will do the same.
Its a great controller and the first party variant is the best quality of course. I've tried third party from Madcatz and the bumpers came off after minimal usage. If you go for wireless don't forget to pick up the wireless receiver. I don't know if its still packaged together but they were branded in red packaging compared to the green and white packaging geared towards the console itself.
