Dave, this probably goes without saying, but make sure that your HDMI cable is pushed as far into the port on the PS4 as it will go. And if it is, pull it out a bit. The rumor is that some folks aren't getting a picture due to the HDMI cable not seating all of the way into the PS4. Worth a shot, right?

Yeah, I may go play with it some more. A bit disgusted to look at the thing right now.

Still on hold with Sony...42 min in.

They do keep reminding me the PSN is down too. Top form on their big day!

Dave, a google search for "ps4 broken hdmi" is not so reassuring for your situation either. :(

Nope, that's what I've been looking at too for the past hour. There's plenty of folks with my problem. Some have said that WHEN they get through to Customer Service they get sent a box overnight to return the bad unit and are told it may be 4-6 weeks until they get their replacement :x

FUCK ME

Still on hold...

Check it Kotaku's issue:

EDIT: Full article: http://kotaku.com/good-news-about-our-o ... 1464813671

Seems they had to push some metal down on the HDMI port to get the cable to seat correctly.

@Dave

I hate to hear that man, I know how excited you've been about getting the PS4. Is it possible to return it to the store?

Like Stark said, try to see if there is anything blocking the HDMI cable from getting a good seat.

I wish I could be of more help :(

he ordered his online, but even if he got it from a store I doubt a store would have any units besides what was spoken for via pre-order.

Funny you should mention a store - I was just chatting with the closest Sony store (about 2 hours away). They do have a small number of units for replacement, and their technician is in tomorrow to start doing swaps for units purchased from any/all legit retailers (like Amazon). If I get there in time, I can likely get one.

I'll probably be taking the drive tomorrow instead of waiting the 5-6 weeks or whatever through the mail. Maybe they'll give me some PSN credit to reimburse my gas or something.

Look at this asshole from earlier in the thread:

The web amplifies these problems in way that it didn't until the most recent console generations, but news of PS4 failures is hardly surprising.

DSH you are one of five people I know that bought one and hooked it up thus far, about ten more have them waiting for work to end. However, three of the five have DOA units. So get there early.
