^ it is a little much at times. But I think for the most part when done in a forum, people are interested in seeing what other people's top list are in case they missed something they would consider a gem too.

I think the Why Are Retro Games So Expensive?! Supply and Demand is EVIL and UNFAIR to 'Real' Collectors! is more irritating than the YouTube threads. At least the YouTube threads die off pretty quick.

Did you know that a DEMO copy of Resident Evil 4 sold for $570?!

You can't tell me that there aren't gougers out there, and people dumb-enough to fall for the gougers.

1.) I'm going to wager that an item that niche has pretty much zero interest to people who aren't already hardcore collectors. Whoever paid for that knew exactly what they were buying.

2.) It said the listing was ended by the seller. This means that it was not purchased through ebay, the seller pulled the listing.

So yeah I'm not seeing "gouging" in that example.

My bad for not reading all the print. I was directed to it from another thread on another board.

But gougers do exist. And if the gougers copies happen to be the only copy of that game selling on eBay that day, then a lot of other sellers start matching close to that price when checking them. Video game gouging is definitely a problem that's become more prevalent in the last few years.

But then these things happen in most collectible markets. When the news was released that Dan Slott was bringing back Spider-Man 2099 in his Superior Spider-Man series, for the next week or two Spider-Man 2099 #1 copies that were in the 50-cent bin, were selling for like $50 a piece. Then when the hype died down, prices went back to normal.
