I don't know how XCOM could be considered dull. Sure you have to move across the map slowly, but the level of tension when any false step could lead to death is off the charts. That's exciting. It also has the same "just one more turn" appeal that Civilization does. Hell, I spend most of my time playing the game thinking about my turns, a game has to be pretty engrossing to do that.

The new maps are much more varied (one was a council mission in a fishing village) and the best part is UFO crashes that aren't just in a forest. I've done one at a farm and two in cities.

I don't like Civ either.

Yeah I am really excited for this. After halfway through in EU it became the same basic maps but bigger scale or flipped around.

I thought it was Hobie who didn't like Deus Ex, and dsheinem doesn't like Zelda either. Basically, dsheinem likes pinball, a few shmups, and first person shooters, reaction-based games, rather than thinking games. :P

I like 2D Zelda.

And I think for a living, so I'd rather spend my recreational time doing something a bit more visceral than cerebral.

You do?

I engineer all day long but still 'usually' prefer strategic thinking type of games to twitch games.

so what's the deal with the Thinmen, you guys? Is it just me or have they been boosted in Within? They were never much of a thread in Unknown, but I feel like they almost never miss and they do legit damage in Within.

Overall, I feel like Within - at least the early game - feels a tad more difficult than Unknown. But hard to say for sure. I'm still in my 2nd Month and just trying to concentrate on getting satellite coverage. I've not dabbled in Bio/Mecha-stuffs yet.

But I feel like I'm doing really good. I've only lost 2 soldiers so far.
