Average game time

Post by RCBH928 »

hello,
I am really slow finishing games. Games like cod4 takes me at least a week to finish. Yet I hear about people that finish a game in two days.

What is your average time finish a game. I know some are longer than others (COD4 and Oblivion) , but i want to know the average.

It took me like a month to finish ninja gaiden which totaled to 24 hours in the end. It took me like 2 months to finish gta san andreas , ocarina of time and banjo kazooie and mario 64 all seem to be at around the 1 month or more period. That is using guides of course, i dont like to be stuck or not knowing what to do for a long time.

I want to know how others play and how long it takes them to finish a game?

while we are at it, I always want to know how many hours is needed to complete any game, but no website seem to offer that kind of service. I want to know how long is shenmue 1&2

COD4 took me almost 6 months... I've had GTA4 since release and still going strong, same with Ninja Gaiden 2 - just got to chapter 4. Mirror's Edge just did in a weekend. Ikaruga is 2 1/2 years and still going strong:) Sonic 1 took me 17 years (i never had a megadrive as a kid!)

it depends no how much time you spend in a day on games. I started playng Bully in march and I'm still only jsut over 30% because I play for about an hour day and I normally have about 10 games that I play side by side, and a few casual games that I dip in and out of when the main 10 dont interest me. By your measurement I've taken several epochs to finish most games but the game clock tells me I normally finish in just an hour or two more than average.

it would be great, but you know, everybody is different..one can finish GTA in 15 hours, while other in 60...and about Shenmue 1 - It is not so long game, I think it will take you something like 15-20 hours, though it depends of how much are you gonna explore and so

For me it really depends on the game. Some games I get really sucked in to, and I'll play them basically nonstop until I finish, which is about 4-6 hours a night on weeknights. Other games will be played alongside five others, and may take me a long time. Of course, that doesn't even take into account the length of the different games.

Games are getting shorter and the sidequests and redundant errands are becoming more annoying. I would guesstimate that average game length is between 8 and 15 hours if you take the main route through a game and don't spend too much time wandering about. I managed to clock Mass Effect in 12 hours, whereas a game like Yakuza 2 took more 20 hours because I played a few side missions. It depends on a) the design of the game and b) your playing style. No place offers concrete statistics for game durations. However if it's not a S/W/JRPG it's safe to assume you can finish most games comfortably in less than 15 hours. I don't care for games like GTA because their mission design is horrendous so I can't comment on those crime simulators (I did enjoy True Crimes: Streets of LA though, but it lasted me 14 hours or so since it was more linear than GTA)

I have no clue how it long takes to beat any game because i play to enjoy the game and i take my time wandering around and checking all the great art work and everything else that people spent countless hour making.

Depends on the game. Played through COD4 in a day, but CODwaw took me 5 days which for me is still really quick. If the game brings me in I'll complete it quick because it will draw in so much that I can't put it down. The first Metal gear solid was the another I completed in a day. However some games may take me months, if not years to complete.

Chrono trigger is one game I'm in the middle of playing for the first time right now and I haven't touched it in almost a month. Not because the didn't pull me in ,but because I suck at turn based RPG's.The story is so fucking amazing that I have vowed to muscle my way through the battle system that I hate so much.

Heh... I finished COD 4 in a night. Finished Halo 2 in two days... Area 51 in 2-3 days... even though I'm not particularly fond of them, most FPS games are a 'walk in the park' for me.
FPS games are definitely the quickest and easiest to get through for myself, but I don't take great interest in them.

I think I finish most games rather quickly, for the most part, but one game I keep on mentally grinding through is Phantasy Star II. That game requires much, much too much time for my liking. This conveys my thoughts about PS II quite well:

I enjoyed Phantasy Star I enough to keep playing, but it really is a chore for me to play Phantasy Star II most of the time.

... but that's irrelevant, no? Anyhew, I don't strive to get through a game as fast as possible; I just enjoy the game. If I enjoy it, I tend to go through it quickly; if not, I tend not to play it enough to get through it.

Takes me months to finish anything, unless its a game that draws me completely that I want to sit down 6-8 hours in a weekend to play nonstop. Usually that has happened with games like god of war, call of duty, shadow of the colossus, psi-ops, half life, chrono trigger, killzone and many others.

Usually I like to see reviews where they state how long it takes to finish the game, so I hope the upcoming racketboy database will have an "average time to finish" so you know what you are getting into when starting a game.
