Going to finally play through the Metal Gears!!

I have never had the urge to play through the Metal Gear Series, but since i picked up Metal Gear 4 and twin Snakes on Saturday for dirt cheap, went to game stop today and picked up Snake Eater and Sons of Liberty for 5 a piece. So any advice before i take on this huge story?

Only one I ever played was Twin Snakes/MGS1, it's a nice game but pretty short, especially considering a fair portion of the game is cutscenes. If the Psycho Mantis fight in MGS1 hasn't already been spoiled for you, don't read anything about that one until you play, so you can figure it out on your own. Trust me, it's worth it.

Or the Cold War to be more specific (MGS is mostly ethnocentric but it has an international appeal as well). I do adore the MGS games, they're so crazy and implausible and the direction is so over the top it makes me ecstatic. The grand finale to MGS2 was probably the Best Ending Ever. Hideo Kojima is the best director in the entire industry, but I wish he'd pick a more mature plot sometime in the future.

As stated above, if you haven't read up on your Psycho Mantis fight yet, don't. Wait until you get there and figure it out.

Also, keep in mind the games are pretty far fetched. Complex and detailed, yes, but not really plausible.

Also, if you get stuck, you're probably overthinking the problem. The solutions are actually pretty easy once you know what they are.

The boss fights and cut scenes in Snake Eater are top notch. In particuliar The End, just wait you'll see. Also don't cheeze out and play on easy you'll be cheating yourself.
