What Anime are you Currently Watching?/Anime Recommendations

Damn, thats hardcore. I'm never even aware of what anime is currently airing in Japan

I used to do that a lot while I was still in college. I only had my favorite DVDs with me to watch, and as much as I loved those shows even favorites can get old when that's all you have to watch. So for a while there internet sub groups were my life.

So, my girlfriend told me she wanted to watch Lain. (which made me ) We started it up... and finished it in the same sitting Show is even better than I remember.

Then, last night she pulled up Netflix as we were sitting down to eat. She asked if I had a preference, and I said no, so she goes straight to Samurai Champloo, saying it was the first thing that came to her mind. She's never even seen the show, but I guess the cover art must have stood out!

So, we watched about 5 episodes of that. Great stuff so far.

I also watched the first episode of Higurashi no naku koro ni, based on a recommendation. Apparently it is supposed to be a super crazy show, but the first episode came off as a Love-Hina esk thing. I might dig a few more episodes in before writing it off though.

I didn't like Higurashi at all. It's an odd blend. They didn't make it to together very well. The darker stuff and the school life, that is.

How'd I see "Lain" and read it as "Elfen Lied"

Ha ha. Two shows that couldn't be further apart!

My gf does like Elfen Lied though!

@Erik: That is too bad, I was hoping that once the dark stuff kicked in, the show would do a 180... but the first episode didn't really leave me feeling too confident about the show.

Elfen Lied is uh... something.

Lain I haven't watched in a long time, I should pick up the blu ray and watch it again sometime.

Yeah... its senseless, violent, and crude. It doesn't really go beyond this, but it does what it does pretty well.

Then again, I liked Gantz

I watched Lain in the 8th grade I think? Loved it, and upon watching it again I realized that I had no idea what was going on when I first saw it. I'm still not too sure I understood everything.

Its really cool how the show seems to be more relevent now than it was back then.

I haven't, never even heard of it! Redline makes me think of two things though:

1) Meth
2) An energy drink that gives me the shakes

It's kind of like that when you watch it. Great art style and great animation though. Everything is so 'cool'.
