edit: Got it to work, although I only get 2 or 3 FPS, so it's pretty unplayable. I'm pretty sure its because I don't have USB 2.0, so the transfer rate isn't fast enough.

edit edit: Had to delete it off the PSP. For some reason, it was causing my PSP to lock up when I try to exit a game or emulator.
Congrats! I used remotejoy lite, was able to view the game at fullscreen and control the game via a ps2 gamepad with a usb adapter. It was very playable and fast. Its great for screenshots and video captures, but I rarely use it because portability is the main reason for my psp but its a great option for us phat owners.

I was really really happy to find that the newest CFW update lets me play original playstation games on my interlaced TV. I have 2 CRT's w/component video but neither is progressive scan. I still can't play PSP games on my TV, but the PSX games look great in 480I and take up the whole screen.

this now lets me play PAL PSX games on my NTSC TV. My gameshark style external mod for PS1 will bypass the region lockout but doesn't fix the refresh rate.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.

do we agree that the PSP is pretty much the ultimate homebrew console or what? As a long time Lua programmer, I feel right at home writing my own stupid little games on it. The stuff (much better) programmers can come up with just blows my mind -- yes talking about the NeoGeo emulator. The fact that PSX "emulation" is right out of the box and absolutely flawless is the real kicker! And since everything is on a memory stick, loading times are nearly non-existent. I mean I buy PSP games like everyone else but I don't remember the last time I even put a UMD in...

Sony had no idea what monster they were going to unleash when they released the PSP!

Yes we agree, I couldn't live without it now the price was worth with all this functionalities.

Yeah I keep all the games I'm playing on my 8GB stick. Keeps the battery going longer and no load times. I like the new fw 5.0. Now you can get on the PSN store directly. And they came out with the CFW 5.0 less than a week afterward. I thought it was pretty slick when I looked at my download history, and it had a download link for the PS1 game I already bought on my PS3.

Awesome machine.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to get a higher capacity memory stick. I only have a 2GB right now, I want to get an 8GB. No loading times is amazing, but one game takes up almost my whole stick!

I LOVE my PSP for retro gaming. I've had three of them, modded all three, and played through countless NES, SNES, and Genesis games. Games with heavy texturing on SNES are a tad slow, but not unplayable. Only emulator I've had trouble running games with is N64, and I don't play many games on that so I don't mind.

It's got everything, nice big screen, decent sound, great performance, removable storage, and once you get ahold of Pandora's battery, the process of making things work properly is painless, and adding games and emulators is a drag and drop affair.

well it has ONE drawback as far as I'm concerned. Even when playing it for short periods, it hurts my hands.

so have any of you guys tried the dualshock-like PSP grips?

there are many of them on Ebay, most offering some sort of additional battery back. I'd like to know which is best and which to avoid...
