What shot style are you using in DDP Res?
Power or Boost or something like that. The one where hitting B switches you between the powerful and slow mode and the faster but weaker mode.

I'm using the 2nd ship too, the assault helicopter.

Resurrection feels fine for the first two stage or so, but beyond that I kinda feel that getting through without being in hyper mode gets to be a bit unfair.

The last chapter in particular, where the screen keeps scrolling in different directions without warning and those invincible laser things are everywhere is the worst.

Like I said, I do like the game and I relish a good challenge in a bullet hell, but there are just some points where try as I might, I can't see a way through.

Power is the hardest shot type to try to play for survival with. Its only advantage is that you can make yourself weaker, in order to chain certain parts of the game. (I don't think it changes speed, going from shot to laser does, but I could be wrong on that)

Try playing the game with Strong (Either B or C ship).

Just remember to stay focused even after you get hit. You get 3 bombs (autobomb) on your first life, and an extra after each death, plus the fixed extend on stage 3 and your score extend at 1b... so you can get hit over 30 times in the first loop, which is quite fair for a Cave game... in fact, it might even be too fair.

Also, the more you hyper, the higher your hyper rank goes, which will make it less effective at cancelling bullets. So, if you are just going for the clear, don't spam hypers where you don't need them. Also, if you bomb to end a hyper, it won't increase your hyper rank, so if you are in hyper and think you're going to get hit, just bomb.

Stick with it!

Strong just seems overpowered to me. Are there any real disadvantages to it?

You could consider it overpowered. If it seems too strong (lul), then try Bomb. It is still far easier to use than Power, which I really think is only good if you are using it to take as many points from the game as possible.

There is no disadvantage to using Strong. You get the power of Boosted Power mode, and the bomb/hyper arrangement of Bomb mode.

In the arcade PCB, Strong mode actually had to be unlocked, either by clearing the game with one of the other shot types, or by putting in a code. (Although once unlocked it remained there permanently) So, I can see it being considered an overpowered extra shot type.

B-Bomb or C-Bomb should still make the game much more managable than B-Power.

I don't like strong because it seems cheap, but I like power mode because of the spread (and the more powerful laser). I don't really see the advantage of Bomb mode because I'd probably never deliberately use them anyway (I rarely remember to use bombs in shmups)

When you pick Bomb or Strong, you autobomb whenever you get hit. So, you don't ever need to bomb, just look at bombs as extra lives!

Power lets you charge hypers faster (as bullets cancelled fill your hyper gauge), but overusing your hyper is just going to make the game harder. As your hyper rank increases, you will find it becomes harder and harder to cancel bullets.

If you like the strength of Boost mode, just try the game out with Strong. Worst-case scenario, you clear the first loop and don't feel satisfied, and then you can either tackel the first loop with Bomb, or try for the 2-ALL with Strong!

Cool marquee, Casey. I assume you got the carts for Joerg - did he do that artwork too? Looks really nice.

No, I just merged the four marquees together and printed it .

No art or labels came with the carts .
