Jeez people, none of those foods are getting banned. The companies manufacturing those foods will simply switch to different ingredients.

In fact, I guarantee that if not for those sorts of alarmist articles, you'd never even freaking notice.

They aren't telling you what you can or cannot eat, they're telling manufacturers what they can and cannot use as ingredients. If you want to go out of your way to import trans fats and eat them, there's absolutely nothing preventing you from doing that.

Do you guys throw fits about "freedom" when the FDA pulls prescription drugs off of the market that are found to be dangerous?

I don't consider it a "fit" when I continually see my government stepping over lines they never should have.

And drugs are entirely different than food. It's not as bad a comparison as arsenic or rat piss  . But still, food and drugs are two entirely different things. Bad food is a personal choice, and it damages you over a long period of time. It is also reversible simply by staying in shape.

It's as stupid as it gets since the article constantly debunks itself.

"Hey, this product might be banned."

"But these guys have already changed their formula."

Rinse. Repeat.

They do it for every item they touch except for the margarine one.

I wouldn't say that...

First of all, nobody chooses specifically to eat trans fats. They'll eat food that has trans fat in it, but not because they actively decided "hey, trans fats sure are dandy, I think I'll eat some."

Secondly, well Bone already said it:
BoneSnapDeez wrote: Artificial trans fat is not "food". It's toxic. It's not something that you can "counteract" with exercise. Hence the reason it needs to be removed from food.
It's not "bad food" being banned, it's saying "this specific ingredient does enough harm that we aren't going to allow you to sell stuff that uses it anymore." A specific ingredient that is easily replaceable by any number of things that taste exactly the same.

This isn't "the government overstepping its bounds," this is the exact sort of thing the FDA was created to do.

I'm at the point where I don't even like frozen meals much anymore. There's definitely been a few meals of those and such this year where I take a bite, and just really wonder what the hell I'm putting in my mouth. After cooking a lot more this year, the taste of frozen crap is just so slightly and disturbingly fake sometimes.

Also now a little over 4 months into DDP Yoga (yes the wrestler!) and damn it's been a blast, never looking back.

Freedom isn't the only thing that matters.

Taxes reduce our freedom. Having to allow "niggers" in our restaurants reduces our freedom. Not being able to buy food from Mary Typhoid reduces our freedom. The judicial system reduces our freedom. Not being able to blast music at 3AM reduces out freedom.

The freedom to buy poisoned food isn't worth a damn.

EDIT: Sorry if this was too crass :(

I've eaten some fungus that could be considered drugs.

The government tells you what to do every time you make a purchase. Gasoline is dirt cheap, you're mostly paying taxes when you fill the tank. I have vehicle taxes, state taxes, federal taxes, property taxes, health taxes...the government getting rid of trans fats is a good thing.

But no you have the option of running your own crime syndicate that sells bathtub-transfats.

The Simpsons suggests that I could go into business as The Fat Baron and make my town a better place, with the only repercussion being watching a fast talking Federal get launched from a catapult.

BANG! Right on, wondering if you got a personal call from DDP after ordering the program? A contributor to my favorite wrestling podcast http://www.inyourheadonline.com started several weeks ago, and said shortly after placing his order he got a call from the man himself. DDP chatted with him a bit about why he chose DDP Yoga and his fitness goals.

Just really great how he has helped Jake Roberts and Scott Hall turn their lives around.
