Valkyria Chronicle!!!

Post by peace4myheart »

Anyone getting this game??? I played the demo and loved it. This is the second time I am excited about a PS3 game. The first one was MGS4. I am a big MGS fan and bought a PS3 specifically for it. Somehow, MGS4 was just a big disappointment for me. I didn't even finish it yet and don't want to either. :( But Valkyria Chronicle is just so awesome, and that is just playing the demo. I love strategy rpg and I just love the art direction of this game. It's a very refreshing take on the old formula of turn-based grid strategy game. November can't come soon enough!!!

The demo's out? Damn, I need to actually visit the PSN store and play this game. Tonight!

I was pretty excited about this game when it arrived in Japan, then forgot all about it. I would love to play it finally.

Yup defo getting this game. Pre-ordered it ages ago.

And getting to control characters from Skies of Arcadia is just icing on the cake for me.

I just hope it sells well. Considering its an SRPG....and has a cel shaded look (which looks amazing IMHO) I dunno if a lot of people will be into this game.

I remember when I got the chance to play this at PAX, I knew I had to preorder it the second I got back to my apartment. I love the take on the SRPG standard that they went with. It's really a breath of fresh air. Plus, I love the cell shaded look. I think more and more devs are realizing that the cell shaded games can actually be more aesthetically pleasing than the uber realistic games.

I was at PAX for two hours Friday, nine Saturday and eight Sunday. And I still missed the demo? Way to much to do there... never thought I would say that about a convention.

Just got the game today and played for about 2 hrs. So far I am loving the art style and direction, the story development, the characters. Only thing is that there isn't a lot of strategy involve an the enemy AI is not that smart sometimes. Hopefully it will be better once I get further into the game. Very fun game and loving every minute of it.

Oh, it gets a lot harder. You really have to start taking into account things like movement ranges and breaking up enemy choke points. The firing while you move can be killer, at times.

first play through be sure not to go for A rank...
if you do it will ruin the fun (I found out the hard way)...
once you get into thinking of attaining A rank it becomes a simple puzzle game instead of a strategy gamer
i need money...

This is without a doubt the most impressive North American offering from Sega in quite awhile. And sadly the game has only sold around 33,000 copies here so far. It really is something every Sega fan has been waiting for, regardless of genre, because it represents the attention to detail and labor of love that Sega has long been capable of putting into their games!

On the off chance anyone needs more convincing I wrote a bit about it when it first hit shelves.

I've bought just two new games in 2008, but I need to get this and support it. Everyone's raving about it.
