Death of PSP coming soon?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

there have in fact been nice releases, most recently if your a sport fan fifa 09 and Pro Evolution soccer just came out and they are both great, and earlier this year MLB the show came out and it is an amazing game,

there are nice games that came out this year, much more than just sports games, like god of war, final fantasy, but nothing compared to home consoles, buuuttttt.......... like i said, there are only 5 more releases due out this year which is bugging me and other people.

Have you ever considered the other scenario?

If not, I'll say it...

MrPopo wrote:So there are three upcoming games for the handhelds that I'm looking out for:

Chrono Trigger DS
Star Ocean 2 - PSP
Ys I & 2 - DS

But this last year has had a bunch of awesome releases. We got Etrian Odyssey 2, Izuna 2, Final Fantasy IV, Dragon Quest IV, Star Ocean 1, Yggdra Union PSP, Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, and probably others that didn't appeal to me but others liked.
Maybe it's just a phase, but I'm currently more excited about a bunch of handheld games than anything on the main consoles. I'm asking myself how the hell I managed to ignore the handheld gaming scene for so long with so much good stuff out. Chrono Trigger and Order of Ecclesia are two good reasons for me to consider getting a DS, even though I consider the PSP a far better handheld. You just can't ignore the number of kickass titles on not just the DS itself, but all the backwards compatible Gameboy titles.

Convenience is really the thing that's winning me over though. As a fan of rpgs, it's fun to think of level grinding in Final Fantasy Tactics:War of the Lions or Disgaea:Afternoon of Darkness while also watching tv. Far less boring than playing these types of games on a big tv and being forced to sit through all that boring work without any distraction other than some music

Just a quik note in response to some people and the games on handhelds, now there is really no reason not to own one as many games are reaching console quality perticularly on the PSP w/ games such as Midnight Club Los Angeles and God of War Chains of Olympus. On the off chance you had been living in a cave for the last 4 years and saw it you would have a hard time distinguising some of these between their console counterparts.

As great as the games quality may be...i just flatout enjoy myself so much more playing on a "proper" console. In most instances you will have a better screen, better audio, a heftier controller/joystick. As well it is more enjoyable for onlookers to watch, and not be huddled around a teencey screen.

yeah, its nicer on a home console, but your missing the point of portable gaming here.

portable gaming is for on the go, traveling, waiting room at doctors office, playing while watching TV,

nothing like watching football and playing world series of poker 2008 on my psp

its not fair for anybody to try to compare portable gaming with home consoles, thats 2 different sides of the coin.
