Do you keep your series in the same console family?

When buying games, I will keep games in a series all on the same console if they are multiconsole releases. Further, if the series spans multiple generations, I will keep the series on the same console family. Like Devil May Cry I want all of Sony hardware, Resident Evil on Sony, and so on. However, I have started series on PC and I have been keeping them there, even if they are considered sub par. One of these series is Assassin's Creed. I started the series on 360 with AC1. But, I got a deal on a Steam Sale on got all of the AC games (except AC III) for like $30, so now I want to keep them all of PC. This series has had problem with controller support for the PC and for this reason is considered to be the lesser of all versions. There are work arounds and mods to make controllers work like they do on consoles, so this is fine. Also, I'm not sure if this issue continued in AC III & IV. But, when I get a deal on them I will find out.

What about you all, will you only buy games in a series for a certain platform?

interesting since I thought I was the only one OCD enough that does this. It irks me to not have all the title in a series on one platform, ala Tiger Woods Golf. I have '03-'12 all on xbox/360 and couldn't tolerate some titles strewn across xbox, 360, PS2, and NGC.

If I can and it isn't a pain, I'd like to. I have the first several Resident Evil games all on Sega hardware and feel like if I had the PS1 version of RE2 that would make my collection a bit awkward?

But if I was going for the Dino Crisis series, it wouldn't stress me out having the first one for Dreamcast, the second one for PS1, and the third one for Xbox.

I generally do this too, but I will get some ports to other systems if they are considered superior. For example, I want to acquire every Silent Hill game for the PS2. The Xbox ports of Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 4 are generally considered superior, however; so, I will have (or will have) those too. The same is true for Onimusha. I am trying to acquire all of the PS2 Onimusha games, but I have the upgraded Xbox version of the first game in the series, Genma Onimusha.

When it comes to sports games, however, I am all over the place. I have NBA Street for the PS2 (since it is exclusive to that console), NBA Street Vol. 2 for the Xbox (since it is the best version), and NBA Street V.3 for the Gamecube (since it has the Mario team).

In short, I tend to buy multiple versions of non-sports games, but I only get one copy of sports games. (ESPN Football 2K5 is the exception. I have that for both the PS2 and Xbox for some reason.)

It varies. Usually I'll look at the quality of the port, platform I'm most likely to play it on, and so on first. If that's kind of a wash, and there isn't a major cost difference, then I'll try to get them on the same console/family.

If it's a series that's somewhat exclusive, like MGS games and Sony, DoA games and MS, that kind of thing, then I'll tend to get multiplatform games on the same console family as the exclusives.

I do this mainly to keep my head straight on control schemes. If I start playing a series of games with one controller, I'd like to continue playing with that same controller through the sequels so there's not a whole lot of relearning involved.

This is especially true when looking at FPS games between PC/console. If I start with KB/M, I don't want to switch to controller for the later games and vice versa.

I generally only do this with modern games - because the Xbox 360 and PS3 are so similar. Xbox, PS2, and GameCube are rather similar as well.

For example, I got Demon's Souls and Final Fantasy XIII on PS3, so I made sure to get Dark Souls and Final Fantasy XIII-2 on PS3.

Now with older consoles, the difference between each system is so drastic that I tend to experiment and try different ports of the same game on various consoles.

I have the whole FEAR series on 360. I held out on pixking the whole series because I wanted to get them all on one console

What about RE Zero, underrated game right there.

Its nice to have the real Resident Evil games all on the Gamecube.
