I really hate to do this, but for the good of all here...

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I've actually done quite a few gift payments on this site, with no bad transactions at all. I think it depends on the person and the amount. If I'm paying over say $50, I'm definitely not doing a gift payment. I think people should just chock the PayPal fee up to the cost of doing business. Besides, it's usually only a dollar or two. I've sold far more than I've bought and never requested a gift payment. Only because I want people to feel secure when dealing with me.

That's just me though. Everyone has their own opinion.

In general, the admins and mods discourage using the gift option. Beyond the safety issue, there can be problems with violating paypal's TOS.

That said, we don't actually exercise any special oversight on how people conduct business. We can perma ban someone or yank their BST privileges but other than that, you guys have to be careful.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Wait, so there are people here who aren't outright banned but are banned from BST??

How would that work? If the banned seller still can post, what is to stop another sell ad or signature sale link?

If they are seen doing that they are banned from the site.

I've dealt with Satoshi Matrix more than once and he was very helpful and willing to work with me. Probably one of the most pleasant people I've personally dealt with on this forum. The kind of guy that will go out of his way to explain stuff about his services to you and lose a sale in doing so just to be helpful/informative. So this is a bit shocking to me as well. I don't doubt Fingolphin is telling the truth, but I would be really interested in hearing about what SM has to say about it.

Also, I thought this kind of stuff was supposed to just go in the feedback thread? Does every incident need its own thread?

One of Satoshi's negatives was for doing the same sort of thing to Purkeynator before here. Strung him along with excuses for months and months. It wasn't until Purkeynator had given up hope and brought it up to the mods that Satoshi was shamed into paying for shipping that was never sent for months despite points where money was apparently made. As noted earlier in the thread, he's on Nintendo Age's Hall of Shame for the same behavior. So unfortunately this isn't a recent turn of his reliability.

I find it very unsettling that a seemingly well known and contributing member of not only this community but the gaming community could be so untrustworthy. I've personally gifted well known members on this site while making deals solely based on their post count and contributions to the site. I guess I should be more careful too.

I guess he must just be very irresponsible and/or malicious? There is a weird mix of people who seem to have had positive experience with him and there are some terrible ones. My case is the only one I could find where he outright stole the money.
