It was a promo disc.prfsnl_gmr wrote:EDIT: There are some Rebel Strike demo discs that do feature the original Star Wars arcade game floating around, however.

I definitely picked one of those up years ago just to replay the original Star Wars arcade game. (I was not impressed by Rebel Strike, however, the game it was trying to sell me...)fastbilly1 wrote:It was a promo disc.prfsnl_gmr wrote:EDIT: There are some Rebel Strike demo discs that do feature the original Star Wars arcade game floating around, however.
Also - and for my knowledge - what is the difference between a promo disc and a demo disc?

prfsnl_gmr wrote:I think that's it. There is no two-disc version to my knowledge and a quick eBay search, and I don't see any other special features listed on either the box or in gamefaqs "cheats" section.noiseredux wrote: no y'know what I'm thinking of - wasn't there a 2-disc version that had the arcade games on the 2nd disc?
That said...the game does feature the voice of Denis Lawson, the original Wedge Antilles.
EDIT: There are some Rebel Strike demo discs that do feature the original Star Wars arcade game floating around, however.
I thought all copies of Rebel Strike included all 3 original arcade Star Wars games (as extra features though, no extra disc).
I know that I've played Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi on my copy of Rebel Strike.

You are correct. Noise was asking about Rogue Leader, however, which is very light on special features in comparison to Rebel Strike.alienjesus wrote:I thought all copies of Rebel Strike included all 3 original arcade Star Wars games (as extra features though, no extra disc).

EDIT: It just occurred to me that Nintendo and its third-party developers were way into bonus/special features during the Gamecube era. Between the features-packed Rebel Strike, the NES games in Animal Crossing, the inclusion of Super Punch Out in Fight Night Round 2, and the Mario Team in NBA Street V.3, there were just a lot of Gamecube games with special features that nearly overshadowed the game itself. It almost makes me wonder whether Nintendo had a policy of encouraging these sorts of things in both its games and games ported to its system...

Yeah I was interested in those Star Wars games, but all that other stuff? That might make my slowdown of acquiring stuff come to an end right quick!
(bonus SW arcade games on one of those games too? Count me in!)

Sorry that was more a semantics thing. The Gamecube did not have proper demo discs for consumers, but had a bevy of demo discs for kiosks - up to 35 I believe (I only have discs 1 and 7). They came in boxes like this:prfsnl_gmr wrote:Also - and for my knowledge - what is the difference between a promo disc and a demo disc?

Yeah...I decided to pick up all of those games a few months ago since they have such great special features. Finding some of those Gamecube sports games is a lot harder than you would think, however...ExedExes wrote: Yeah I was interested in those Star Wars games, but all that other stuff? No worries. I was just curious, and while I am slowly learning about some of the Gamecube's various promotional discs, I did not know about the kiosk demo discs. The NES games in animal crossing are really cool. You collect them as individual furniture items just like everything else, and they're all playable. Most of them are just the early "black box" simple games and arcade ports though, but hey.ExedExes wrote:WHAT WHATprfsnl_gmr wrote:EDIT: It just occurred to me that Nintendo and its third-party developers were way into bonus/special features during the Gamecube era. I wish they would've kept that feature in the later games, but it's kinda obvious why they didn't.

I you buy an Action Replay for Gamecube you can unlock a few games that were never unlockable the final version too, including Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda.
