Re: best SNES puzzle games
honestly, BAM (ugh, Puzzle Bobble is a way better title, isn't it?) is a definite favorite of mine in the past year. I really need to grab the DS or 3DS release. But y'know what's awesome? Taito actually put up the arcade game on their website playable right in your browser. THAT'S awesome!
Magical Drop V is fantastic, but I do wish that there was a bit more variety in the multiplayer. As far as I can tell, the only mode is a race to clear X amount of bubbles. But that said, me and Mike have been playing the heck out of this one on Steam.
Anyway, sorry to derail from the SNES portion. But I should say that these kinds of puzzle games are easily a favorite genre for me. But I just cannot seem to enjoy Panel de Pon.

Forgotten! Consider them too.

Also on SNES, Tetris & Dr Mario bring the two best NES puzzle games together on one cartridge. Check out the two-player mixed mode where one player can play Dr. Mario while the other player plays Tetris in split-screen gaming goodness.
Kablooey, yeah that too. Just make sure you're READY, because you'll hear it every 10 seconds or so

?! at Tetris & Dr.Mario -- 2 players can play a separate game? That is awesome .

I actually enjoyed playing Zoop during the Together Retro month we had it.

I like Tetris 2, but a friend of mine hated it. So I hesitated to recommend the game.
Just like other games mentioned, the SNES version has a puzzle mode, unlike the NES version.

if you aren't entirely against import snes games. one of my absolute favorites is tetris battle gaiden. it is insanely fun to play against another person and even the one player mode is fantastic.

Re: best SNES puzzle games
Tetris Attack = best puzzle game on the SNES.
Period
So much fun. The only downside to that version? No battery for saving progress/high scores/etc.
I also have Tetris 2, Wario's Woods, and Tetris & Dr. Mario. All fun, some moreso than others. BTW Tetris 2 on the SNES is the best version of the three (the three versions of Tetris 2, besides the NES and Game Boy versions).
+ 1 on the mention of Tetris Battle Gaiden. I saw a video review of it and it looks fun. Definitely will be grabbing that one. Also worth noting, besides that one, there's 2 other Japanese Tetris games we never got: Super Tetris 2 + Bombliss and Super Tetris 3 (which includes, yes, 4 player Tetris).

If you hunt around you can get it for around $15 shipped. Though I must third Tetris Battle Gaiden:

Re: best SNES puzzle games
Super Bombliss is another spinoff. Not technically named a Tetris game but you know how that goes.
Adding to the confusion its Game Boy cousin was converted for us to Tetris Blast (we didn't get the uncommon GBC update, which even yahoo auctions appears to have just one cart-only copy about $30).

Panel de Pon is my personal favorite. Tons of other great ones have already been listed.
My wife and I also really enjoy Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon S: Kondo wa Puzzle de Oshioki yo! - which, as you may have guessed, is Japan-only.
