Custom gaming fridge magnets

Post by Valkyrie-Favor »

I bought some glossy printable magnet sheets from Staples, printed some stuff on them, drew some outlines, and cut them out with a razor blade. They're sitting happily on my locker now. Here's what I got from my first sheet (pitiful, I know).

You can probably tell which I cut first! They worked pretty well for sprites and the Donkey Kong fan art. I also printed off Faith from Mirror's Edge, but the black ink smeared all over. Be careful never to touch black areas, and use "glossy photo" print settings if you can.

I'll pack my next sheet better. I have three left! Until next time.

That looks cool. Is the magnetic paper expensive and is it much thicker then standard copy paper? You could add laminate to the top to protect the printout.

I was thinking that the magnetic paper wouldn't have made it in the floppy disc era, not an issue today CDRs and DVDRs are the common backup medium today.

I got the Staples brand ($9 for 4 sheets or $25 for 10). I've heard the other, cheaper brands smear too much.

The paper is pretty thick and my printer, which has a complicated, adjustable intake module, wouldn't grab it initially. I took the paper stand off and fed it directly into the printer, everything looked fine
