Re: PC build thread
Anyone got a good guide for setting up the cables. I don't know where things go.

You want to be mindful of airflow, I take it. There's this lifehacker guide that might help, scroll down...ZenErik wrote:Anyone got a good guide for setting up the cables. I don't know where things go.

Personally, I'd just read your mobo guide. Everything you need to know should be there.ZenErik wrote:Anyone got a good guide for setting up the cables. I don't know where things go.

Re: PC build thread
Well here is my main PC build. I put this together back in July of 2010, so it is just over 3 years now, but still going strong.
mobo: EVGA P55 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813188055
cpu: i7-860 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6819115214
ram: 4x 2GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820231277
GPU: EVGA Geforce GTX 470 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814130550
PSU: Corsair 750W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817139006
case: Antec 900 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811129058
HDD 2x Samsung Spinpoint 1TB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6822152185
cpu fan: Zalman 92mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6835118223
I really recommend getting some arctic silver and slapping on an aftermarket Zalman cpu cooler to keep the cpu temps down and up the performance and life of your rig. I noticed a big difference as the stock cpu cooler and paste are poor.

Re: PC build thread
Aside from the front panel connections pretty much everything can only go into one place. The biggest problem you'll probably run into is how long a modern graphics card can be. I'd recommend having all your drives installed before you try to hook up cables so you have an idea of where your clearance points are.s1mplehumar wrote:Personally, I'd just read your mobo guide. Together and working.
Installing OS now! Pardon the lack of cable management. This is my first custom PC, it's mini ITX, and the case has no cable management system.. Soo uhh... Something to work on.
