If you have the money, I personally would go full SSD.. No point in having an HDD on a portable device.. My previous thoughts were from the perspective of a desktop user.. If you use the laptop as your home PC, then it all comes down to personal preference..

It seems okay, but it's a fairly new product, and I'm not sure on the company (HEC) that actually builds it.ZenErik wrote:So this would be fine? If you can see another one that is better on performance to cost ratio on their site let me know. Thanks!

They have a good price on the PC Power & Cooling mkIII 600W, which is a Seasonic built unit (and modular, which may be desirable if you do build into a small case).
It's not less expensive, but, it's more of a known quantity I guess. Then again, $78 with a $20 mail-in compared to $90 (and out of stock) on Newegg, or $109 on Amazon.

I'm still waiting for SSDs to come down before my OS/apps drive is replaced with an SSD. Of course, my current OS/apps takes up 1 TB (see the PC games in my Backloggery? All installed at once), so I'm still going to have to wait for a while.

Well, I did it. Ended up spending about $980. Got my mini ITX gaming PC w 8GB RAM, GTX 770, i5-4570, etc.
Also got a bunch of free games which I may or may not sell the codes for. FFXIV. ACIV + some Splinter Cell game. And if it works, the guy gave me a coupon for free AMD games too, haha. Not sure which tier. Didn't get the Batman one, but the other two make up for it.

Did you order online or did you go retail so you could build tonight?ZenErik wrote:Well, I did it. Ended up spending about $980. Got my mini ITX gaming PC w 8GB RAM, GTX 770, i5-4570, etc.

Older. Not wiser.

Microcenter. Price matched everything I could with Newegg and Tigerdirect. Building tonight.

I am impulsive and impatient. But I don't see myself regretting this one.
Will still end up getting a PS4 and maybe Xbox One eventually. Need a PS4 for my fighters and JRPGs and likely Project DIVA.
Kinect 2.0 is getting a Windows release next year. Maybe most of the Kinect games I am interested in will have PC versions.

I'll post my rig when it's assembled.. And hopefully functioning. I'm a bit worried even though I do tech stuff for my job. Would hate to have a bad part or screw something up.
