Weird. Right now on eBay I'm seeing Matt's Version going for $3.95 cart-only, while Becky's Version cart-only is going for $33.95. I guess I'll be holding off on that.
Gals Fighters is one that I'm definitely wanting to check out. The only fighting games I've ordered so far are King of Fighters R-2 and Fatal Fury: First Contact, though there's a Samurai Shodown! 2 I'm eyeing.
I did order a copy of Pac-Man as part of a set. How does the restrictor help?
And what kind of lighting options are available?

it turns the 8-way stick into a 4-way stick, which is very helpful in this port as its very sensitive to needing to be precise. Meaning, if you press up/left instead of HARD UP then Pac-Man just doesn't react to you at all. He's kind of confused like "dood, did you want me to go up or left? I'll just wait until you decide." Meanwhile Clyde's eating him.

I don't know, I've never seen your house. Can you get flood lights in there? Or those lights that they use on movie sets?
Outside of that there's some third part "worm light" kind of deals for NGPC, or there's backlight mods. I never did either, so can't comment on effectiveness.

I think theres a snake light, but its prett rare.
I don't know if you meant technically how the resistor helps, or if you were asking if it was actually useful, but from what I know it restricts the stick from moving outside of the 4 cardinal directions.
Gals Fighters just feels so perfect. Everything is amazingly smooth and fluid, and the controls feel just right. I'd rate it as one of my very favourite fighters in general, never mind the whole 8 bit, 2 button thing.
You seem to mainly be inquiring about games I don't have though. I should get around to picking up some of the other more common NGPC games I suppose. It's hard to get excited over Pacman though.
I have:
Cool Cool Jam (Japan import)
Dark Arms: Beast Buster 1999
Faselei
Gals Fighters
Ganbare Neo Poke Kun (Japan import)
King of Fighters R2
Metal Slug 1st Mission
Pocket Tennis Color
Puzzle Bobble Mini
Puzzle Link
SNK vs Capcom: Cardfighters Clash SNK version
Sonic Pocket Adventure

This is crazy talk! Pac-Man was one of my fav NGPC ports haha. It's actually really hard, too. Me thinks it's a lot closer to Ms. Pac-Man in that there seems to be no set paths for the ghosts, and instead they're really out to stalk you.
Puzzle Bobble Mini
This was the only NGPC I beat actually. Great, great port. The only complaint is the limited palette on the hardware. Meaning purple and grey look really close. So do pink and orange. So there were a lot of times where I'd shoot myself in the foot without realizing it.
Re: Neo Geo Pocket Color Game Recommendations
I meant what kind of lighting options were available for the NGPC, Noise, like if there was a snake light or something similar.
Anyway, thanks for the info on the restrictor. I'll have to see about picking that up some time.
Here's what I've ordered so far:
Dark Arms
Dive Alert Matt's Version
Fatal Fury 1st Contact
King of Fighters R-2
Metal Slug 2nd Mission
Pac-Man
Picture Puzzle
Pocket Tennis Color
Puzzle Bobble
Puzzle Link
Puzzle Link 2
SNK vs Capcom Card Fighters Clash Capcom Version
SNK vs Capcom Card Fighters Clash SNK Version
Like I said, I'm mulling over Samurai Shodown! 2 right now.

I've been playing Dark Arms. Pretty neat RPG.
Some day I'm gonna have to pick up that Ogre Battle game... Maybe once I've collected the rest of the series first...

While the screen isn't backlit, you don't need a whole lot of light to see what's going one. It's definitely one of the better non-lit screens out there. I don't think you'll really need a worm-light or anything like it unless you plan on playing it in the dark.

Thanks for the tip, BD. As long as I am OK playing in bed with the reading lamp on.

I'm going to disagree with BD on this one and say "hope it's a really bright reading lamp." Maybe my eyes just suck, but I found that unless I had a really good overhead light above me, and held the screen at just-the-right angle, the lack of backlight always bummed me out about an otherwise perfect handheld.

Yeah I do the bed/lamp when playing NGPC or WonderSwan Color.
It is a shame there was never a backlit NGPC model. There's always the Neo Geo X. ho ho ho
