What Anime are you Currently Watching?/Anime Recommendations

I'd also recommend Madoka. Not usually one for the magical girl genre either, but it kinda rises above that.

Most recent anime I watched was the Eccentric Family, which I liked. It seemed more like something I'd expect from a film instead of a current show.

She's way more into anime than I am. She's the type that watches fansubs of shows that are still airing in Japan.

Sometimes I'll sit behind her and watch stuff with her here and there over her shoulder. There's actually a pretty big list of stuff she's been wanting me to watch because she thinks I'd enjoy it.

So... I finished Madoka Magika. I... don't even know what to say about it. Its been 2 days since we finished it, and I'm still thinking about it. Shit changed my life.

Now, I have no idea what anime to go to from here.

Crunchyroll has simulcasts of series airing in Japan. Not everything but a large majority. $60 a year. Pretty cheap option that reduces the need for fan subs and keeps you up to date.

As for where to go from Madoka, it's hard to say. That is one of my favorites, for sure. I'm not sure what you have seen, but here are a few more favorites of mine that I've watched numerous times. Millennium Actress, Perfect Blue, The Garden of Words, 5 Centimeters Per Second, Nana, Gunbuster, Time of Eve. Others I've been meaning to re-watch: Katanagatari, Monogatari Series (Bakemonogatari, Nisomonogatari, Nekomonogataru Black, Monogatari Series Second Season), Steins;Gate, Chihayafuru. Seemingly great series I've yet to finish: Kaiji, Monster, Kaiba, Dennou Coil, Fate/Zero.

Tons more.. Just blanking, I guess.

Currently finished up Shakugan no Shana. Half way through Shakugan no Shana III (Final). My friend was telling me that season 3 was the worst.. Maybe it will be, but so far it's the best, IMO. Definitely a pretty big change in direction, but the pacing and animation are much better. Filler has been eliminated. Story has been continuously pressing forward. I guess some might prefer the more slide of life direction of the first few seasons. Prior to Final my favorite arc was actually a side story in Shakugan no Shana S called 'Overture'. I think that was Shana in a more slice of life state at its' finest. Apparently it's just a side story in the original light novel series.

Kino's Journey is pretty cool. I think I like Mushi-shi better. Sorta kinda similar-ish.
