Basically the Swedish edition of The Evil Dead. And it blows.. Absence of common sense, lack of contemporary writing (seriously, nobody immediately calls for help in this age of ubiquitous cellphones?) not to mention piss-poor acting. I turned it off as a small woman took on an athletic dude in one of the worst choreographed horror-fights of all time

Don't listen to Pulsy, he's full of shit...
All kidding aside, I really liked Wither. IMO it was a nice homage to Evil Dead. I actually liked this better than the real ED remake. I went in with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised. If you like no-brainer super gory horror movies with Swedes speaking Swedish, than this is for you...
I think the problem is that you expected too much...
When my friends and I were voting on what movies to watch a friend said she'd never heard of THE MONSTER SQUAD. I said "That's like not having seen THE PRINCESS BRIDE", she blushed and said "Haven't seen that either". You think you know someone...
After we broke up and I moved out to Seattle I found out my college girlfriend had never seen Star Wars.
I watched the first Star Wars , I am not sure why the Americans are so fascinated by this movie. Maybe it had great technology used in '77 with people first time watching space ships in battle on screen. Maybe the world that was created was awesome at that time I am not sure, but 36 years later you would think it would wither down... from what I see it has more people excited over it than the latest blockbuster movie.
I also have not watched Monster Squad or The Princess Bride... I almost never heard of them.
Episode IV? The timeless classic with a believable hero, a captivating love story, humor that wasn't forced, the most recognizable villain ever, and a mythos that will last forever? Yeah, why would everyone (not just Americans by any means) love that?

Pretty disappointing, even when going in without any expectations. Not terrible or anything, but very inferior to the original. Yes, Barbara is a better character, but that wasn't enough to make me think much more of it. I was let down by the lack of impressive special effects or gore as well, given that Tom Savini himself was directing. I really disliked how they changed the ending as well, it's so much more powerful in the first one.
The word I would use to describe this remake would be "pointless".
Is the 2008 Day of the Dead actually a remake or not?
Bad Grandpa
The previews give too much away. I still found it funny and didn't regret my ticket, but you know what to expect. In a lot of ways, it was much tamer than I expected.
I've watched about half of episode IV, and never made it further, as I always got bored around that point, and it was usually at times where friends were attempting to force me to watch the movie about 1 in the morning, so I could really care less.
My dad doesn't like sci-fi and my mom was a Trekkie back in the day, so I haven't ever really had a push to see it. I'm personally more of a fantasy guy, all though I like science fantasy, like the John Carter stuff for example.

I haven't seen the remake since I was a kid. I do remember liking it, but I also remember thinking the original was better.
And no, the 2008 Day of the Dead, while a zombie movie, is not a remake. Yet they still slap George Romero's name somewhere on the cover in a tagline in a completely misleading manner, and people make the connection anyways. Also, it's terrible.
