Overall, what is the best Sega CD combo? I know the model 2 sega is supposed to be the worst video wise (that is the one I have) and am looking to upgrade to either the Sega CDX or Sega Genesis model 1 HD Graphics. The CDX has a steep price, but if it is reliable and can handle back ups I think it would be worth it. How does it fair video/audio wise to the model 1 combo though?
Thanks

HDG Model 1 + Model 2 SCD would probably give you the best combination of reliability and quality.

Thanks overall my model 2 sega cd is fairly relaible except with my Snatcher back up. I think it just may be because I have an off brand ac adapter though.
Is that the set you personally have?

Re: Best Sega Genesis/ CD Combo
I'll recommend the Model 2 Sega CD and discourage the CDX.
Reason being that CDX has a small history of the caps and/or video encoder going bad (happened to mine anyways).
With the Model 2 combos, you could just replace the Genesis if that ever happened.
What would be neat is to get a S-video or Component modded Genesis to go with the Sega CD. There are a few guys on this forum that offer the service or pre-modded systems.

I've got a model 1 everything, but I do keep a model 2 around just in case I have problems. I haven't had any issues with my model 1 scd, but I've heard about others having reliability issues.Toonami2112 wrote:Thanks overall my model 2 sega cd is fairly relaible except with my Snatcher back up. Watch out for those off-brand AC adapters by the way. Some of them flat out don't provide enough amperage to properly power the system.
