NES Flask on Kickstarter

Post by KalessinDB »

I'm so in. I pledged for a CastleVodka one (I'm more a whiskey drinker than vodka, but Castlevania is my frikkin game) and I might have to add on another one. But I figured people here would want to know about it.

We already have a thread for that:

I give this project a big thumbs down. Neat idea, terrible execution. The flask will be fragile, and why carry a flask that can only hold one shot of liquor?

I think it'll be more than 1 shot, they were using a prototype to film the video so obviously it'll be weird. But for $20 it's a conversation piece more than anything.

I had checked Off Topic for a kickstarter thread, but I have to admit I didn't think to check Personal Computers since umm... well since it has nothing to do with PC as a platform? :D

Oh, for sure, but for $20 you can also purchase a flask that is usable.

It's a clever idea, but I already have enough crap that just sits around. The durability of the flask was the biggest turn off for me. If that was in my back pocket and I sat down...*crunch*

I don't think I'd walk around with this in my back pocket. This is more the kind of thing I'd carry in a coat. Friends' weddings, funerals, parties, cold nights, etc.

So are actual NES carts being cannibalized for this?

Flasks are meant to be worn near the hip. That said you are the rule breaker.

Flasks also usually carry between 6 and 8 ounces. I can't see this thing holding 2 ounces. Not being a debbie downer, just saying this doesn't sound like twenty clams well spent.

Seems kistchy as fuck to me. Just another "gaming culture" cash-in, I suppose.
