Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
So many games and movies to discover!

PS2 Dune (PAL) - $5.00 BookOff
Nice surprise to find a PAL game in the U.S. and of all places a Japanese bookstore! The game is not that good, but different. Boots up to NTSC with Swap Magic; I'll set some time aside to convert it to NTSC properly burned to a new disc later for a hard drive install. Running away from the Sandworm while slogging thru the desert sands is a pain!
PS2 Final Fantasy XI Vana Diel Collection - $10.00 BookOff
The complete set including all the add on levels that were originally sold separate. Maybe worthless since it is strictly online use, but still nice to own. Talk about coincidental timing, mmjr just posted a Poll Thread concerning this game. Maybe might be worth the trouble to get it connected?
PS2 Maximo - $5.00 BookOff
Some say this is inspired by Gauntlet, maybe since the warrior loses his armor the same. An okay 3d explore sword slashing game.
PS2 Ratchet Deadlocked - From aaron
Another Ratchet, two more to go to get all the PS2 editions.
Wii Kororinpa Marble Mania - 8.99 Gamestop
Had the second volume for a while which includes levels for the balance board. Never got this till now since it does not support the board, nice set of levels.
DVD Botched $5.00 BookOff
Just in time for Halloween, a different kind of Horror flick! I have seen it before, the Russian guy is really goes over the top in his role.
DVD Hero (Guang Don Face DVD5 Region Free Chinese Version) - $1.99 Thrift Store
Ooooh yeah! I love this Hero movie and now have the older Chinese Import version with the crazy colors. This disc is different from the DVD9 Guang version, no more face logo popping up throughout the movie. Been contacting the moderator at DVD Beaver on this, I think the over saturated colors are what the movie director originally wanted.
DVD Kaena Prophercy - $7.00 BookOff
Had the import PS2 game for a while, finally picked up the movie.

Yojimbo Criterion Anamorphic - $17.00 BookOff
A bit pricey for a BookOff purchase, but along with The Hidden Fortress I think this is one of Kuroswawa's best movies. Love the music and suspense; Toshiro Mifune is at his peak charging against the other warrior toting a pistol. He proves an advantage in bringing a knife (and sword) to a gunfight. The 1st edition Criterion had issues, this the newer 2nd edition Criterion pressing.
Kuroswawa wanted to prove to the western world he can make a western friendly flick. Hidden Fortress inspired Star Wars and Yojimbo inspired the start of great Spaghetti Westerns, A Fistful Of Dollars.
@ Forlorn Drifter - Your Avatar; a bit of trivia. That Samuara Jack Episode has the Yojimbo music in the opening screens.

Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
CRT: Maximo has nothing to do w/ Gauntlet. It's a spin-off of the Ghosts N Goblins games.

See that, too many games to remember. I meant the side scroller not the overhead dungeon game.noiseredux wrote:CRT: Maximo has nothing to do w/ Gauntlet. It's a spin-off of the Ghosts N Goblins games.
Other then the underwear in Maximo, I don't see the "SHMUP" sword shooting action as in the Arcade.

How are those games anyway? I have the first one but haven't gotten around to it yet. I love Makaimura/GnG so I am hoping I'm in for a treat whenever I do play them.noiseredux wrote:CRT: Maximo has nothing to do w/ Gauntlet. It's a spin-off of the Ghosts N Goblins games.
Yojimbo is so good. Top 3 Kurosawa for me.

Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
Maximo: Ghost to Glory (PS2) is a lot of fun, and it definitely pays tremendous homage to the Ghouls 'n Ghosts series. It is also one of the most challenging 3D platformers for any system - with <gasp!> limited continues! - but it is nowhere near as challenging as either Ghost 'n Goblins or Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts. (It is more like Ghouls 'n Ghosts with regard to challenge.) It may be a bit dated now, but I certainly enjoyed it a lot when I played through it.brunoafh wrote:How are those games anyway? Maxio vs. The Army of Zin (PS2) is also a lot of fun, and it is definitely a solid 3D platformer. Its connection to the Ghouls 'n Ghosts series is a bit more tenuous, however, and I did not find it as charming as the original. Likewise, Army of Zin is less challenging than the original, which made it feel a bit more generic. It was still a fun game, but if I had choose between the two, I would go with Maximo: Ghost to Glory.

Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
@CRT - Kororinpa Marble Mania is one of my absolute favorite games on Wii. It benefited by avoiding the balance board niche imo. The wiimote balance controls are very precise - it plays like an actual physical labyrinth board, except with gorgeous stages and ingenious elements added to make the game progressively harder.
If you enjoy Monkey Ball for Gamecube and wished there were a way to get that fun gameplay to respond to actual balance instead of a toggle - this game has it.
I'd also recommend "Gravity", a puzzle game, but using the motion controls expertly.
