What was the last movie you've seen?

I just got back from my dad's house where I saw this.

The movie goes by a few titles, actually: "Let Sleeping Corpses Lie", "Don't Open the Window", and the title this particular copy went by "The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue".

The main-characters

Better than I expected actually. A great little zombie flick, especially considering the time of it's release (1973). A bit gorier than I expected, for the same reason. But I guess this was when Texas Chainsaw Massacre had just scared the piss out of everyone.

The beginning was a little slow to get into, but once things start happening, it's a pretty cool movie that delivers some great zombie scenes and gore scenes. And it's British (but I don't mind British horror movies).

Image

Local farmers start using a new "envirnmentally safe" pest-control technology that uses ultra-sonic waves. It's designed to work on simple nervouse systems only, and drives the pests to kill each other. But unknown to everyone, it's also waking the local dead.

Once the first murder or two happens, two travellers passing through are pegged for the murders. Of course the police don't believe their story of the walking dead. The movie follows the two characters trying to escape the grip of the police and trying to survive the horror of the flesh-eating fiends.

If you're into zombie flicks, this one is worth checking out.

Cool, I'll have to keep my eye on this then. Been on a bit of a zombie movie binge, guess the month is getting to me after all. Still not sure if we are talking about horror movies universally over in the dsheinem vs. noiseredux thread or what? I dunno, and I'll probably keep talking about stuff past October, so I'll just post here anyway.

Return of the Living Dead

I've seen this before as per recommendation via noiseredux, but my gf wanted to watch it so I gave it another spin. Still was awesome, but not sure I'd put it up there with the Romero films. This one is such a product of its time in the best way possible though haha, and it does a lot right given the genre. For some reason with these movies even though the acting is terrible/whatever, it almost feels more believable than with mainstream movies and professional actors. I've seen the professional actors a billion times so they feel fake, but somehow goofball indie film actors just seem more real because I don't know their faces.

Braindead/Dead Alive

What the fuck did I just watch?

Hercules (1983) with Lou Ferrigno.

It's one of those hilariously bad, cheesy films that I love so much. You can't go wrong with Lou Ferrigno fighting laser-shooting robots. What is it with low budget fantasy films and robots anyway? Wouldn't it be cheaper to put a stunt guy in a rubber suit or attach some styrofoam horns and call him the devil? Oh well, I'm not complaining. It was a very entertaining film.

Just watched The Perks of Being a Wallflower

It didn't really click for me, although I did miss pieces of it. I don't really know what exactly the movie was trying to say honestly.

Something amazing.

Apparently the studio he filmed this movie in is now used as a local news station, but there are still stains on the ceiling from all the gore.

While these have a few moments, they are grossly overhyped and over rated. 2 was the exact same movoe as the first with the same tired jokes. I have very little interest in 3.

X-Men: Days of Future Past Trailer

OMG this looks amazing!

Bryan Singer's X-Men meet the First Class: X-Men in a time-travel story.

I'm so happy we're at the point with comic movies that we can tell actual comic-like stories, rather than seeing the same origin story 3-4 times over.

I caught Uncle buck on HBO yesterday. John Candy is one of my favorite comedy actors and Uncle Buck may be my favorite of his films. I really need to find it on DVD.. Anyone else a John Candy fan?
I am buying all Saturn games, PM me with your offerings and I will let you know if I need the game or not! (Everything must be CIB)

Currently trying to knock off all the sports games, would like to get them <$5 each! Of course if you would like to donate them I will gladly pay the shipping! :)

One of my favorite Candy performances is actually overlooked, for good reason: HOME ALONE, like most Hughes films, is chock full of memorable characters who get lost in the mix. People seem to remember dead Elvis in HOME ALONE more than Candy, but damn does he give an incredible performance.

Seek ye out THE GREAT OUTDOORS if you haven't watched it. Great story, great humor, great nonsense. Hell, watch every Candy movie as they're usually a homerun that always seem to have a bit of Hughes or Ramis writing style to them.
