I went to my first anime con today. It was pretty cool. I thought it would be funny to dress up as someone so I went as Kenshiro (from Fist of the North Star/Hokuto no Ken). It looks like I'm doing some weird shrug or something but I just have football shoulder pads on. Here's a pic with myself and Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell.

I've only been to one anime con (repeatedly). I usually raid the vendors' tables, play some video games, flirt with the ladies, and then gtfo. Feeling a bit "too old" for the whole scene these days.

It was cool but I don't think I'll ever be like an avid fan of it. I like to talk to really old school fans, they are always so grumpy and have this almost Vietnam vet-like attitude about their anime knowledge. Overall vendors were my favorite part of it, lots of cool Japanese stuff to check out in person that is typically only available online.

I thought that would be too boring/easy, I wanted to have fun with putting a costume together. Also I'm not muscular and too hairy for any kind of makeup on my chest to be visible.

I feel the same. I practically bankrupt myself every time I go to PortCon Maine. It's probably a good thing that's the only con I go to.
