What Anime are you Currently Watching?/Anime Recommendations

I'm actually in the middle of an Evangelion rewatch right now. It was never the deep content of the series that hooked me (I realize you're joking with that), but the utterly amazing mecha action and depressing vibe/setting. I also like most of the characters quite a bit, and the music is great too. It still holds up and if anything I've come to appreciate the animation and overall value more than ever before. Also, the closest we'll ever get to a Xenogears anime!

Anno directed stuff overall is a bit hit or miss with me though. Although Evangelion TV is one of my favorite series, the Evangelion movies can be kind of sketchy, and I don't particularly care for Gunbuster outside of gorgeous animation and awesome 80s music.

Actually I'm not! The last few episodes may not have been executed perfectly but damn is the premise really, really interesting.

I knew literally nothing about the series when I first watched it (I bought it because it was cheap) - at first I thought it was somewhat generic action sci-fi but then it builds up and up and gets weirder and weirder and then holy shit.

I still can't decide if Death & Rebirth and The End of Evangelion were necessary or if the normal (ambiguous) series ending was sufficient.

And like I said, I haven't seen the new movies...

I think EoE is pretty much essential and the full ending. I don't know what I'd think leaving off with the series only, if it just ended like that without anything else.

Watched Bad Lands a few weeks ago on there and enjoyed it. I don't think I fully understood the entire story when I marathoned it a few years back and have been meaning to rewatch. I am so glad that Netflix gives you audio/subtitle options can't stand dubs .
