That's a good point. The 2011 PSP game is a port of the original...

Here are the 12 games I'd choose personally (in no particular order). Partly based on stuff with high votes, and partly based on my own preference. This'll probably be my last thoughts on the matter because we're just going around in circles.

January: Oddworld or Lost Vikings
February: Metal Gear
March: Space Harrier
April: Ultima IV or Castle of the Wind
May: PSO or FFXI
June: Monster World
July: Shock Troopers
August: Ikaruga
September: F-Zero
November: Psychonauts or Ape Escape
December: D&D arcade (or a capcom beat em up month if it was preferred)

I would actually not be opposed to Starcraft either.

I'm not that taken by most of the popular October options to be honest.

This looks good so far.

I'm confused about your October statement. Why is there no October listed?

We normally tie in something horror themed to October (and often a double bill too). I didn't list any game with less than 5 votes, and I'm not really a fan of any of the horror themed games with high votes.

While this list is all right, I wish this action/platformer/whatever thing was settled, for you now have Metal Gear & Monster World with separate months. That leaves highly voted games like Deus Ex out. It's got too many votes to be ignored. If we could settle that, make polls for all the tied games, and slot DE in here somewhere, I'd be very happy with your list. This has gone on for too long, there has been day-long stretches of inactivity in this thread, and noise has all but abandoned us to our own devices here. I think we're all finally ready to take on a calendar.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of interest for horror or even a unanimous vote for 2 solid games among most of us here. I feel FPS and Adventure (once the deadlock between The Longest Journey and Gabriel Knight was settled) would be better served with their own months this year.

Ack wrote:Screw it, here's a totally different list:

January - Puzzle - Kirby's Avalanche Lost Vikings
February - Sim - M.U.L.E.
March - MMO - Ultima Online PSO
April - Action - Space Ace
May - Fighting - Yie Ar Kung-Fu
June - Platformer - Bug!
July - RPG - Might and Magic Book One
August - Shmup - Bangai-O
September - Run & Gun - Commando
October - Horror - Uninvited
November - FPS - Hexen
December - Beat 'Em Up - Battletoads & Double Dragon
I suggest two changes.
The Lost Vikings because of the large amount of positive discussion about it thus far.
I suggest PSO over UO since Ultima only has a 14 day free trial, and PSO is multi-platform and all can play on the same server.

If Bangai-O is going to be up for "shmup" in August, could we possibly add a 2nd game to that month that is actually a shmup? Perhaps another Treasure month with Bangai-O and Ikaruga?

Also, I love PSO... but it is not an MMO, at all. I'd still be down to play it, but if we want the experience of maybe a dozen of us all taking on some level 20 dungeon in an MMO, might as well go with a F2P like Aion or Tera Rising.

Just my 2 cents, I'm sure you guys are fed up and just want a finalized list.

I'm a little confused that people are treating Ack's list like a serious suggestion. We're not gonna consider all these peoples votes and suddenly turn around and ignore them for a random list of 12 games someone posted.

Seems like people just came in, saw a list and didn't read anything else. I mean the game has Bug on it, pretty obvious that it was a jest.
