I would genuinely happily play Kirby's Avalanche and Bangai O for Together Retro.

Why don't we just make a poll via an online polling service where everyone can add a new option if he wants to?

SNIP:

Platformer - Psychonauts/Ape Escape (it's tied, but I'd vote for Psychonauts to break it)

ummm...

+1 Ape Escape

+1 Psychonauts- I've heard so many good things about this game but have never tried it, i would like too. Is this game retro though?

Is Psychonauts "retro" enough though? It came out in 2005. I love the game and don't want to start up the whole "when is something retro" argument, but Quake 4 came out the same year which is a current gen game, albeit an early one.

I generally consider any game that is released on an older platform to be from that platforms generation. I mean I dont think many people would say Resident Evil 4 is a 7th generation game, when it originally came out on the Gamecube. Or God of War 2 etc.

Pyschonauts came out on all of the 6th gen platforms (bar DC obv), so yeah I think it's retro, I mean that is two generations ago, certainly not current by any means.

PS4/Xbone aren't out yet, so that game is still last gen.

I wasn't really trying to say that Psychonauts was a 7th gen game, but rather to point out that it is less than ten years old. As a european, I didn't actually get this game until 2006. I don't think it made it to gamecube either.

This club has played Super Monkey Ball in the past and is playing Silent Hill 2 now, but both are more than a decade old. As a newer member I was just wondering if Psychonauts would be considered too recent and/or if things are done more on a case by case basis?

For example, hasn't Legend of Heroes already been disqualified (after your objection no less) for being too recent? That game was originally a 2004 release.

Vita, 3DS, Wii-U.

Unless you trying to make a DISS to the current consoles out.

I think if it came out on old hardware, it should be classified with that group of games. Legend of Heroes is a PSP game, so I don't feel it is really right for this type of thing despite its age.

We could always define a year where games are eligible, but I've always just gone by generation, and Psychonauts is a 6th gen game, which is already old by most peoples standards. I could see how my standard could be arbitrary since this isn't necessarily a generational thing, so maybe we should make a fine line between what is retro and what isn't.

Also, you're right, it never came to the Gamecube.
