Those movies are a lot better (which isn't saying much since Robot Monster is so bad...but seriously, they are both good.) I hope you enjoy them.ZeroAX wrote:Anyway, I downloaded creature from the black lagoon and I'm waiting for Mothra VS Godzilla to finish downloading. I love watching stupid movies late at night

Just got back from seeing the original Halloween on the big screen. What an unfuckwithable classic. The print was grimy too, so it gave the whole thing a nice old-school experience.

I've just watched like crazy, it's actually pretty good although I wasn't expecting much from a movie like that. That's how it usually works in real life - you only want something if you can't get it.

BEFORE SUNSET
What a slice of heaven this movie is. Just as good as BEFORE SUNRISE, possibly better. I would highly encourage anyone interested in screenwriting to watch this film.

Not sure how I feel. It's more over-the-top explosions and blah blah S.H.I.E.L.D. are a bunch of fascists. I had a similar non-reaction to the Thor 2 trailer. I think I'm just burnt out on these super hero films.BurningDoom wrote:This looks AWESOME! Did you see Winter Soldier? Hell YES I'm seeing this one in the theater!

But then again I wasn't that impressed by the Iron Man 3 trailer and I ended up really liking it so who knows. Cap is a more interesting character than a lot of people give him credit for and the first movie was one of my favorite "Avengers series" films.

You guys do really that Robot Monster is considered one of the worst films ever made, right?prfsnl_gmr wrote:Those movies are a lot better (which isn't saying much since Robot Monster is so bad...but seriously, they are both good.) Day of the Dead 1985
Heard mixed things but it was good. Interesting characters and the claustrophobia and tension everyone was going through felt real (I mean, the acting was pretty bad, but I thought the vibe delivered through the filming and setting was good). I think it's the "weakest" of the three, but I did like it a good bit and would recommend it to others. Just not quite as memorable as Night of the Living Dead or Dawn of the Dead. The zombies looked the best here though, but I guess that's expected given that it's the most recent film.
I also found myself more on the side of the military guys than the scientists. I don't know if it was intentional or not but the film makes it seem like the scientists in general are the good guys and the military guys are assholes. But nothing the scientists were doing made any sense to me and I thought the military captain had every right to act like he was.
One thing kind of bothered me though and I still don't understand.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I too watched the Grand Budapest Hotel trailer and thought it looked great, but realised I've only ever seen one Wes Anderson movie: The Life Aquatic. So I rectified this by watching...
Rushmore
I was worried going into this film that it'd be about some poor little rich kid overcoming adversity and getting into Harvard or some such twoddle, like an arty Gilmore Girls. But Rushmore completely blew my expectations away and I loved it.
I also wasn't expecting this film to be so heartwarming and heartwarming in the right way like It's a wonderful life. There's no saccharine melancholy here and Max remains a mostly positive person through out. Bill Murray is excellent in this, the subtle look he gives when he meets Max's dad and realises he's not a doctor almost had a tear from me. Great performances all round really.
So after enjoying Rushmore so much I went out and got The Royal Tenebaums which was also great, for many of the same reasons. Gene Hackman steals the show here as a textbook asshole and Gywneth Paltrow is pretty excellent as an emotionally removed playwright, letting the mask slip only when it is absolutely necessary. Again, it's warm and well played and again when Chas admits he's had a "bad year" a little tear popped into my eye.
So yeah, now I'm super hyped for Grand Budapest Hotel!

OMG dude, that's one of those scenes that I can NEVER watch without it getting to me! Man, Rushmore and Tanenbaums are so great. But after that Anderson really seemed to let me down. I didn't like Life Aquatic other than the ending, Darjeeling Ltd was just kind of ok to me, Mr. Fox bored me...Sload Soap wrote: when Chas admits he's had a "bad year" a little tear popped into my eye.
