Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
So I just finished Sonic Lost World. I feel like opening a thread on the game or writing a review, because I know a lot of people have yet to play it... Edit: Nevermind. Thread opened http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... =2&t=44645

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
Just read a rumour that Nintendo are planning a "ReUmagined" series of HD remakes for the Wii U, beginning with classic titles they published during the Nintendo 64 days. So far the only game known (or rumoured rather) is Super Mario 64 (although according to the site, 7 games are in development so far).
Details on the reUmagined concept:
- The short development time allows these “big classic” titles to fill the gap in between Nintendo’s original Wii U software.
- Less to fund and fewer people involved means more resources to original titles in development.
- eShop only for $30 per title, reduces risk at retail.
- Wind Waker approach taken in terms of visual upgrades, but “reUmagined” titles will benefit from added content.
Super Mario 64 reUmagined info:
- The classic Super Mario 64 in its entirety is being repainted and brought into HD.
- Two players can control Mario and Luigi, simultaneously.
- Option A gives player one, GamePad control and player two, any other controller option. The camera will follow the brothers as they move throughout the stage, but should they split apart too far, the GamePad user’s Lakitu (camera operator) will only follow that user on the controller’s screen, while the second player’s Lakitu will follow that character on the TV.
- Option B allows two GamePads to be used at once. If the brothers are nearby, the camera will remain the same on both GamePads and TV. If the brothers separate, each player will have his or her own unique camera view on their GamePad, until coming back together. While apart, however, the TV screen can be switched to be mimicking either player one or player two or be a top down perspective, map.
- Online cooperative/counter-cooperative gameplay is present.
- Race to Star, Coin Collector, and other similar modes have been added in to enhance re-playability.
Personally, I hope this rumour is true. I won't hold my breath though.

Going with my gut here and calling bunk on that rumor until I hear otherwise.
I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo wants to do more HD remakes, but those specific details seem unlikely.

Sounds too good to be true.
A console remake of Zelda OoT or mainly MM would be way cooler to me than a 3DS remake.

The list posted up on that site:
The first four end in 64. With it looking like Wave Race and Starfox in slots 3 and 4 with 1080 Snowboarding in the last slot. The rest cannot be Nintendo made games or they are not using official titles - meaning the list would be bunk. Nintendo would never refer to Majoras Mask as just that (which would fit in slot six).
Shouldnt be to hard to figure out- Super Mario 64

Not to mention the fact that the amount of effort that would be required to remake n64 games and have them look presentable on a modern console would be pretty close to just making new games from scratch. It's not like they can re-use such old assets.
That sort of undertaking certainly wouldn't be a "budget" release.

I don't know, Mario 64 looks pretty awesome to me on the OUYA. And that's just some emulation + a rom.AppleQueso wrote:Not to mention the fact that the amount of effort that would be required to remake n64 games and have them look presentable on a modern console would be pretty close to just making new games from scratch. I agree though, the additions stated are too high for these t just be budget releases Nintendo throw on the eShop.

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
The most suspicious thing about this is that the first game Nintendo would have chosen for this would have been a Super Mario game, when those games are developed super fast and are cheap to make compared to say an HD Zelda (which was the reason they chose to make Windwaker HD). Not to mention Super Mario 64, while an all time favorite of mine, is not a mainstream Mario game in the same way as the 2D ones (or the 3D series which seems to be a mix of both worlds).
