More about the traditional English breakfast, less about the movie.

Two eggs over medium, toast, beans, sausage, and a roasted tomato. The only thing we were missing was the tea, and we only skipped that because it was late. It was a quick, delicious, and not very healthy meal that we were able to cobble together from random stuff in our fridge.Luke wrote:More about the traditional English breakfast, less about the movie.
We also spent a lot of the movie discussing English celebrities that would have been "zombified" by the outbreak in 28 Days Later. Zombie Elton John was our favorite, and we kept hoping to see at least one zombie wearing his distinctive glasses. I was also hoping for a zombie Morrissey (i.e., the only zombie too sad to run after anything).

Mmm, I love beans on toast. Black and white pudding is great too! Harder to get outside of the UK though.

This will be on my menu for next week's dinner with a few alterations.
Eggs over easy*, drop biscuits, beans, pancetta, and fresh heirloom tomato. Fruit cocktail on a bed of cottage cheese sprinkled with 5-spice powder for an extra treat.
*This is incredibly embarrassing to admit, especially since I've been cooking since I was a kid and owned a catering company...that said, I think I was around somewhere around nineteen years old when I learned that "Daddy Style" was not a universally recognized style of how to cook an egg.
Growing up my Mom would serve eggs four ways: Poached, Scrambled, Daddy Style, or as an omelet.
Went to an IHOP with some college buddies in the early morning and was asked, "How would you like your eggs?" by the waitress. I requested "Daddy Style". She responded "I have NO clue what you are talking about".
I said, "You know, not fried, but whole, and where the yolk is runny".
"That's called over easy" I learned. But screw it, I still refer over-easy as Daddy Style eggs.

That's an "aww" moment. Cute story.

Tonight's movie was...

Classic Freddy. This is the first time I have seen this, though I had watched scenes in the past. Almost as good as part 1, miles ahead of part 2.

Dream Warriors is the best!!
Too bad it's all downhill from there until New Nightmare
Final Nightmare is still pretty entertaining, though.

So far my list
World War Z - Meh
Christine - Very good for a car focused movie
Children of the Corn - Odd but ok
Hellraiser 1 and 2 - Very very good! Gory but I like gore.
I plan on rewatching Halloween and also watching Carrie...the original. Kinda wanted to see the new one but I don't have extra money laying around to spend on a movie.
I should watch the zombie movies I have...but I have to set up my tv and hook my dvd player up to it since this POS pc's cd rom bit the dust and can't play dvd's or read cd's.

Ah, The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, thank you for starting the "atomic bombs releases giant monsters" subgenre of scifi horror. Thank you for giving us an outlet over our fears of technology and progress, nature, and atomic energy. This is one of the great scifi classics. It's not particularly well acted, it was cheaply made, and a lot of the science in it we know to be wrong today(look at those dinosaur sketches...), but this movie helped lead to the birth of such classics as Them!, the Godzilla franchise, Gorgo, Behemoth, and even modern day movies like Cloverfield and Pacific Rim.
Also, as a fan of Ray Harryhausen, his abilities are in full effect here in the form of the dragon-esque Rhedosaurus, a massive dinosaur with toxic blood, a rare but ingenious touch to a menace that was freed by atomic power and must be put down by it. I love Harryhausen, and as a fan it is wonderful to see this movie, since it was astronomically important to his career. TBo20kF was his first film as the lead effects designer, and it allowed him a lot of creative freedom to design and build his effects.
