How dead is the Wii?
Re: How dead is the Wii?
As someone who hated the Wii, I have found myself putting a bunch of the games into my backlog with full intention to play. It was and is more of a system than has been given credit or its due.

The Wii will never be dead unless somehow you are no longer able to play games on the system. Even then, there seems to be a lot that can be done in terms of homebrew software, like the entirely new mario game someone made (which I hear isn't half bad). Who knows what people may do with it and it may actually be a very enjoyable experience.

Ninendo Wii Also Discontinued in Europe
Its only natural that once the new generation is out, the older one is taken out but a console that sold as much as the Wii (100m+) You would think it would have a longer life. Call me crazy but I think when the PS3 stops shipping, it would have sold 90m units or so making the Wii sold more only by %11 more or so. This is no way a clear winner as in last generation where GC and Xbox sold around 30m and the ps2 sold 130m+ units.

I consider a console is dead once you no longer find it, or its games, or its accessories on store shelves and once games are no longer released for it. Some one might be creating a game for the Atari 2600 some where in the world but you can't convince me that its a living console.
@GamerForLife
Dont play Zack and Wiki . I got that game when I was supporting the Wii to turn out first in this generation sales wars. I think I broke the CD in frustration. If you are the very calm kind of guy, and got no problem with setting something for 20-30 min then something goes wrong and you have to start all over then go ahead.

I still enjoy Wii games and play them.Wii U hasn't lived up much as far.I still plan on playing Wii games for some time now. It's same with other consoles, I'm not planning to buy XOne or PS4 if I haven't squeezed everything from the last generation.

Re: How dead is the Wii?
If you are not going to count multiplatform games and ports then the 360 and PS3 were THE SHITTY consoles of this generation.
Honestly if it wasn't for 5-7 exclusives (LBP, infamous, Valkyria Chronicles) my PS3 would have been a waste of money, since most of its games get better versions on the PC
Yes on the Wii I had mostly nintendo exclusive and obscure games, but you know I couldn't find those anywhere else.
That being said I still love my PS3, and people would call me crazy for saying it only has 5 games. But for some reason it's ok when people say that about the Wii

Eh, all three had a decent list of exclusives. Main thing with any is that not everything gets much media coverage, shelf space, and so on.
Re: How dead is the Wii?
My Wii still sits next to my PS3 and PS2, and will continue to till a Wii U has a reason to be mine, also my Wii is modded, so i use it for 16bit and 8bit gaming.

Re: How dead is the Wii?
Context dude context. People say multiplatform or ports on the Wii don't count, I reply with "if we use the same logic the PS3 and 360 suck too".Violent By Design wrote:Why wouldn't you count them? I also disagree with that statement, I think the best exclusives from 360 and PS3 are just as good if not better than the best Wii's exclusives. Wii has them beat on quantity, but I dont think their games are any higher quality.
And about the exclusives thing, you understand that it's purely a matter of personal taste right? Though one could argue that both the 360 and Wii suck cause their line of exclusives cater to very specific tastes in games (each to their own hardcore audience)
