Let me give you an answer that will satisfy you, Retrogamer0001. We are buying new consoles at launch because we are stupid. We are not as intelligent as you. Sorry.

What's amazing about that "single-game experience" I'm paying $500 for is that later I can buy MORE games and I'm already set! I will have the console!

I don't need to go out and buy 20 games to sit on a shelf. Take a look at my sale thread, I've already gone down that route and regretted it. I have plenty of games on there that I've never played and bought because they were "a good deal". That sounds like the far bigger waste of money.

Sorry if I'm coming off as harsh (you guys are as well, in my defense) but I'm just trying to explain my perspective. I honestly don't care who buys what and for what reason; it's not my money and has no effect on me, obviously. I do think buying a console at launch is a relatively foolish thing to do though, as it is generally a waste of money as gamers have no choice but to pay a premium on everything with only a few quality titles to choose from. I've said my piece though, so no hard feelings on my end.

Same here. I generally don't do backlogs anymore. Unless they are games that were free w/ my PS+ subscription.

But I am also in the minority because I changed over to buying everything digitally when it's an option.

At what price point is a game worth buying? They can almost always be had for cheaper if you wait long enough. The console won't be cheaper for a good long time, so really I'm spending $20-$30 "too much" for a newer game. I can live with that.

I apologize as well if I come across as harsh because I don't mean to be. I enjoy the discourse.

Retrogamer0001 wrote:Are you really expecting brand new launch titles to be less than $60? Like you just said, most newly released games now are $60. And are you really going to buy a brand new console and only buy one game for it? Obviously not. So, unless you expect to steal some of these new games, you'll be paying a premium for a while until the used market kicks in.

Yes, I really expect to only buy one game for my new systems. Why do you need more? I've long since learned that buying multiple games at a time is stupid. One sits on the shelf and is inevitably available for cheaper by the time I get around to playing it.

Same here - when people who are passionate about something come together and have different opinions, sparks inevitably fly. I like that though!

Anyway, to answer your question, I think that $20 is the perfect price point to buy a game at (that usually hooks me in anyway) and I don't feel like I've lost value that I can't get a return on. The used game market is very interesting to me, so I try to make sure I can get a fair return on anything I buy if I ever want to sell it in the future.

For me personally I will not be buying either console day one. I have no interest in a Xbox one due to the higher price point and the lingering sour taste left by the whole DRM situation. I won't be buying the PS4 now because imo they're isn't any good titles on day one. April 1st is the day I'll be buying it. If someone has the means to buy one (Xbox or PS4) and doesn't mind waiting for good titles, then whats wrong with that?

I tend to agree more with Retrogamer here as I don't think that it's really a good idea to just run out and buy it because it's new and shiny. I understand the whole "inevitability" aspect of it but I'd still like to hang on to my dead presidents for bit longer. I think they must earn my money by giving me good games and not just having something new. But if you have the money and patience then go for it.

Controller's street date got broken in Canada at some stores:

It apparently works on a PS3 if wired:
