I think I'll wait a month or so before the Bay Trail tablets come out before I make my decision. Ultimately, I can choose between good cost and battery life but low power, or the inverse of that if I go with an i5-powered tablet. Any suggestions one way or the other?
Definitely make sure it's an x86 device; if you get an ARM device running Win 8 RT you won't be able to play regular PC games.

what a fucking mess. I was having more issues, and finally decided a system restore might just be smart. So I did so. Starting fresh. Hey, Chrome does work now no problem. BUT... my GPU won't work at all now. I tried via DVI (as I had been using) as well as HDMI. I just get a black screen when I try to boot up. WTF? So now I don't know if my GPU is a dud or what. I mean... should I get a new GPU? What if it's the PCI-e slot? UGH!!!

If you have onboard video, try switching to that and booting up. Then clear out your video card drivers and re-install.

Yeah, I mean take the GPU out completely and hook up to your motherboard's video (if you have it). I know Intel-based systems will cut off the onboard video at the BIOS level if they detect an add-on GPU, which would cause the same problem you see now.

oh oh yeah, I searched for AMD drivers and found none (I guess because of the full system restore).

Go to amd.com directly and find your drivers for your video card and install them.

I meant "I searched for old AMD drivers on my PC to make sure I had deleted them and they weren't mucking anything up."
