I have used facebook on and off since 04, but I really do not like it. I like it to get information out to a group at a decent clip, but to keep up with people I still prefer to call or see them face to face (even if that is through skype).
Linkedin on the other hand is a powerful tool.

I remember telling a couple of my LiveJournal friends my first name back in 2001. It was like some kind of huge breakthrough.Gunstar Green wrote: Really though it's very strange. I remember in the early days of the Internet, losing your anonymity and telling the world your real name and real life was kind of anathema for some people. I remember when Live Journal came along but still most people preferred to remain anonymous.
That site has gone down the crapper lately which is sad because I used to adore it.

And now we have those beheading videos back.. WTF, facebook truly wants to run the show don't they? What a sick, twisted fucked-up world.

They're still talking about it on BBC and suchlike. Snuff like this ought to remain in the dark net or whatever it's called.

IRL gore stuff has never really been regulated to "the darknet" afaik.
It also was floating around all over the internet long before the social media boom.

Hell if I'm searching "Beheading facebook".
What is the deal with this? Random "friends" posting videos?

Re: Does social networking irk you?
Some classmates were arguing about something on Facebook in 4th period today, and killed a few of my brain cells in the process. I'm so glad I haven't and never will be involved in social media

It looks like Facebook re-reversed their position on violent videos in any case.
