There is one exception that is a third-party game, that looks like a great game, and was a (somewhat) recent release on Wii:

This probably isn't isn't going to be a favored opinion but I think it should have been "died" a year or two ago. They based the console on a novelty and once it wore off the console became less and less worthwhile.

So many gamers say this. Or just point out the waggle, and dismiss it.

The Wii has to be the most underrated console out there. Too many gamers just don't give it the credit it deserves. Yes, it has a ton of shovelware (the same can be said for the NES), but there are a ton of great titles on the system if you look past that shovelware.

Just look at what great games the system gave us, mostly exclusives at that:

-Bit.Trip games
-Castlevania Rebirth
-Cave Story
-Contra Rebirth
-Data East Arcade Classics
-Donkey Kong Country Returns
-Epic Mickey
-Gradius Rebirth
-House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return
-House of the Dead: Overkill
-The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
-The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
-Mario Kart Wii
-Metal Slug Anthology
-Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
-Metroid Prime Trilogy
-Metroid: Other M
-New Super Mario Bros. Wii
-No More Heroes 1 & 2
-Pandora's Tower
-Pinball Hall of Fame games
-Rayman Origins
-Red Steel 1 & 2
-Resident Evil
-Resident Evil 4
-Resident Evil: Zero
-Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles
-Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles
-Samurai Shodown Anthology
-Sin and Punishment: Star Successor
-SNK Arcade Classics
-Super Mario All-Stars
-Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2
-Super Paper Mario
-Super Smash Bros.: Brawl
-Wii Sports
-Wii Sports Resort

And of course there's the fantastic Virtual Console. Which allowed me to play some great SNES RPG classics and some fantastic TG-16/TG-CD shoot-em ups that are a bit out of my price-range.

^ Very true. My opinion is kind of bias due to the fact that I absolutely hate motion controls. Honestly I wouldn't hate the console half as much had they not had a shitty controller. I mean it's a very one-sided controller. Trying to use that thing in any other form than a pointer is damn difficult. One example would be Mario Kart (one of my favorite titles on there), without the wheel it was so uncomfortable to play.

Then uh... play it with the classic controller or gamecube controller? You don't have to use the remote.

In fact, most of the better Wii games either don't absolutely require the controller at all, or use the controller either as a pointer or in very transparent, intuitive ways (see: Mario Galaxy).

This, too many judge the Wii as just Motion Controlled platform. The Wiimote works very well as a "Light Gun" for games such as House Of The Dead and has proven its capability for instant precise aiming in FPS games. Sony and Microsoft played catchup, now their newer FPS games offer the aim sensor option.

There are quite a few games that can be played with traditional controls including a simulated NES style, Gamecube, Classic and even Arcade Stick. Just look at the icon on the back; although there is no indicator for the sideways NES control. On the other hand, I wish more of the Wii games offered more then the Wiimote option, there are numerous Flight Sims that should have the Classic Controller option instead of just the Wiimote and Nunchuck.

What are your thoughts on this? Did Nintendo pull the plug too quickly specially when we consider the 100m user base?
I had hoped the WiiU low percentage of the market would keep the Wii active longer. New game support for the Wii is pretty much gone. Even though the WiiU supports Wii games, most new Nintendo 1st and 3rd party games will be based on the WiiU. As far as the Wii itself being dead, I think just like the N64 and PS2, there will be games in the used market for many years to come. Even when Gamestop stops carrying Wii games, there is still a huge library circulating out there.

I agree. They should have released the Wii U earlier as well and possibly made Skyward Sword a Wii/Wii U title; kind of like they did with Twilight Princess.

Maybe the U would be in better shape than it is now.

Eh...The Wii-U was released early as hell as it is, a full year plus change before its competitors.

Dont see a problem with Skyward Sword being a Wii game. I mean a lot more people bought the game (and the wii motion plus) because it was on the Wii, very few people would have bought the game if it had been for Wii-U I think.
