What was the last movie you've seen?
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Dawn of the Dead 1978
I thought that maybe I had seen this before, but I pretty quickly realized it was my first viewing once I started it. I have seen the remake though, and I preferred this version by quite a bit. Having said that though, I liked Night of the Living Dead more. I'm not a big comedy guy so the light hearted feel with the social commentary stuff didn't resonate with me too much, but I still liked the film a lot and would watch it again. I was surprised by the 2 hour plus run time, the movie covered a lot of ground and by the end I felt pretty much satisfied with everything. But I liked the more claustrophobic, serious, and local feel of Night of the Living Dead.
Up next will be Day of the Dead, which I feel like I've heard next to nothing about. That one doesn't seem to be as popular for some reason. I read some reviews and looked around a bit and it seems like it's generally regarded as the weakest film of the "trilogy".

it's very different. But it's by no means bad.brunoafh wrote: Up next will be Day of the Dead, which I feel like I've heard next to nothing about. BTW, glad you could appreciate the original Dawn after seeing (the horrible) remake.

I liked both Dawns. Definitely different styles. The remake shouldve just been zombie movie in a mall. I wasn't a big fan of Day of the Dead.noiseredux wrote:it's very different. Yes. I don't think Dawn 2004 is a bad MOVIE. I think it's a bad REMAKE.Jmustang1968 wrote: I liked both Dawns. Definitely different styles. The remake shouldve just been zombie movie in a mall.
Stupid running zombies...

Blame 28 Days Later. It helped popularize that style.noiseredux wrote:Yes. I don't think Dawn 2004 is a bad MOVIE. I think it's a bad REMAKE.Jmustang1968 wrote: I liked both Dawns. Definitely different styles. The remake shouldve just been zombie movie in a mall.

Yup. Not a fan of that one either.Ack wrote: Blame 28 Days Later. It helped popularize that style.
Didn't see it. Even Romero's recent ones... I couldn't stand Land of the Dead, so I haven't seen Diary. How was the Day of the Dead remake?
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I thought 28 Days Later was quite good, running zombies or not. One of my favorite modern zombie films (which is a pretty short list, as I don't care for modern zombie stuff). The sequel was very whatever, but the original impressed me.
Land of the Dead, is that the one with John Leguizamo and the zombies learning and stuff? That was pretty bad. Had no idea it was related to George Romero.

Yeah I like both 28 Days and the remake. I don't care if zombies run or not.
Land of the Dead was meh, though I like Dennis Hopper.

I found 28 Weeks Later quite enjoyable.
What exactly is it you guys didn't like about the sequel?...

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?

Starring Liam Neeson (Taken, Batman Begins, Clash of the Titans), directed by Sam Raimi (Evil Dead movies and Spider-Man movies). And it even looked great, visually.
So you'd think it would have been a great movie.
It wasn't. All the characters were cardboard cut-outs with no depth at all. And frankly, the decisions they made in the film made absolutely no sense. So it was hard to take any of it seriously.
Skip this one.
