Re: Which Wii LoZ to Play First?
I'm 63 hours in to Twilight Princess, having played it on and off for the best part of two years, and although I highly recommend it, it is quite a bloated game. I have found the bosses up to this point (I'm currently against a ) to be very easy though.

If the ultra slow opening of the game didn't turn you off, you'll be fine.SpaceBooger wrote:I have played through large amounts but not did beat: Loz, LoZ:LttP, LoZ:LA, Loz:WW and LoZ:Oot and LoZ: Mish Cap.
Before reading these posts, I took Bone's mindset and made a decision.
I started playing TP this afternoon and got to where the kids chased the monkey (not very far) and I am enjoying it so far. I just hope this one keeps me engaged long enough that I finish.
Now any non-spoilerish tip for Twilight Princess?

if you've never beat a LoZ game, for chrissakes play one of the 2D ones from the 8 or 16 bit eras (or the GB/GBC titles). 3D Zelda is teh sux.

Wii supports Gamecube games, so play Windwaker instead
. Or what Dave said, and download them from the VC

Re: Which Wii LoZ to Play First?
As stated in my original post, I am on a Wii kick and have decided to play the Wii versions. I own carts/discs of every LoZ game that I have played. I have played through many of them and the problem isn't 2D vs 3D or that I have not played any - I get bored, or rather the games become too monotonous, and never I never finish them.ZeroAX wrote:Wii supports Gamecube games, so play Windwaker instead. Play Twilight Princess first. It's the better of the two games and has the better story and characters.
Skyward Sword was way too padded for a game and some of the mechanics aren't well executed.

Funny I've felt the complete opposite since after the Oracle games. Minish Cap wasn't memorable in the least and I never finished Phantom Hourglass, thus had no interest in Spirit Tracks.dsheinem wrote:if you've never beat a LoZ game, for chrissakes play one of the 2D ones from the 8 or 16 bit eras (or the GB/GBC titles). 3D Zelda is teh sux.
Link Between Worlds looks incredible though.
The overhead formula was my favorite, but they just had to do lame stuff or something.

Re: Which Wii LoZ to Play First?
I understand the "playing the bad games" first philosophy because it is hard to jump from, say Mother 3 to Earthbound Zero. And in some cases, like Pokemon (the originals are archaic but better overall experiences in my opinion) it makes sense.
However, I don't think that applies in this case. Skyward Sword is a fantastic game and one of the least typical Zelda games out there. It makes great use of the Wii controls, has really great action-oriented gameplay, and genuinely fun adventuring/puzzles. Twilight Princess, on the other hand, makes me think of some sort of Greatest Hits Lite version of Zelda. Everything you'd normally find in a Zelda game is there, but it's just lacking something.
I know you specified Wii Zeldas, but If you could, I'd say play Link's Awakening and Ocarina of Time before either of the Wii games. They are the two most solid Zelda games in my opinion (though Majora's Mask is probably the best).
But if you can't do that, play Skyward Sword and when you play TP, just don't compare it to other Zelda games because it doesn't hold up.

Twilight Princess has an absolute mess of a story and it's padded like crazy. Bug hunts, anyone?Aar1012 wrote:Play Twilight Princess first. It's the better of the two games and has the better story and characters.
