I know about Crimson II, but that was split into tracks whereas the original Crimson was one long track. At least, that how it's shown on Metal-Archives.BoneSnapDeez wrote:There's also a Crimson II.

Yeah it's split into tracks but not songs.
It all flows together as one 43-minute long song.

Yeah, combination clean/harsh are always good in my view. Like Opeth, or Woods of Ypres(one of the few cases where I will accept black metal vocals.) or a hundred and one different melo-death bands.Sasha_Blue wrote:What about Opeth? Or at least older Opeth, they use a combination of clean and harsh vocals.

non-update on thing i'm doing:
Waiting for these drum tracks from this guy to slowly trickle back to me is kinda agonizing. He's got a lot of material to learn and work on though and the songs I've gotten back so far have been absolutely fantastic so I'm not really complaining, but still...
Guy apparently hurt his arm last week and hasn't been able to play, but he says it's mostly recovered now and he'll be getting back to my stuff really soon.
I did kinda play with some pre-production test recordings with the tracks I've gotten so far though, playing around with mic positions and such, and oh man... very happy.

Those things are great. Just Great.
What do you guys think about Atlantean Kodex? I really like their stuff, definitely gets the epic feeling across quite well. In fact, I'd personally the epic heavy/doom metal combo gets the best sense of epic. Being a bit slower like that allows for a bit more elegance to it. I think the same applies to USPM seeming more epic to me than European.

Chino, their lead singer, is working on a new project called "Palms" with former members of Isis. I wouldn't say what they have released so far has reached the levels of awesome that Isis and Deftones reached individually, but they still have a nice sound going on. I just hope Chino decides to rough it up a bit on some tracks, with those deep Isis chugs.
Also, Team Sleep is kinda cool, if you want even more Chino stuff.
