Resident Evil Revelations, rebirthing the series?
LMAO
This game... is terrible. Some of the most generic music I've heard in a long time. I'd take Sheva AI over how frustrating all my deaths have been here so far. What's the point of health when half the enemies have instant death attacks? How about getting destroyed coming out of stupidly long melee attack animations you can't even do anything about. Every single character beyond Jill and Chris suck and I've lost track of them. The most pointless swimming segment ever with horrid controls? Let's toss in our favorite, timed sequences. I've played as 6 characters so far? Who thought this boat was cool? Did a nuke just go off? Satellite ray beams?

I think most people were amazed at how good Revelations was because it was developed for a handheld consoles. I think this was pretty much the first good portable RE game.Opa Opa wrote:Yep. Revelations sucked.
Me personaly? I just tried the demo, but honestly it's by far my favorite resident evil. And I"m saying that cause i never managed to play more than 5 minutes of any game, but this one I liked so much I want to buy it.

I liked Revolutions a lot. I liked it so much I actually finished it, and quickly too. It's way better than 5 and 6 in my opinion, neither of which I ever cared for.

I beat Revelations since my post above there and yeah, my outlook on it didn't change.
Couldn't help but order RE6 for the cheap. From RE4 (included) and on fans of the series seem hit or miss on every entry, so I figured I need to finally check it out myself.
So far, it's a lot more fun than Revelations gameplay wise. But I can tell looking at the chapter selections and such I'm going to hate these boring environments to the bone. As much as I love RE4, there's a reason the castle portion is my favorite part in the game, it's mostly interior. That's a big thing that defines RE for me that Capcom doesn't seem to get or something. That was something Revelations... tried, but the boat was just completely boring to me.
The beginning was slow as mollasus though. I'd say so far contrary to what most seem to say, I liked chapter 1 of Chris' campaign more than Leon's... Leon's seems slow and boring, very minimal, but without any puzzles or real exploration here like the old games, it's just kind of boring. Chris' was just to the point killing zombies with more arsenal.
And where the hell is the story?
So far, easy to say I've played far worse. It's got some neat things in the combat, and I thought I was really bored of the Las Plagas, but these zombies are feeling kind of boring in comparison.
... hmmm I guess "boring" is the word. But yeah, not terrible. I'll keep chipping away at it.

I love the begining of RE4, el pueblo has a great atmosphere, especially the night part. So far i only tried the demo of revelations but i must say the enemies look a bit boring but still i feel will be better than RE6. I'll see if i can get the before the year ends

Re: Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
The problem with Revelations is that the combat is half as responsive as RE4-RE6, hit detection isn't nearly as good, etc. Playing it after an RE5 replay was probably a horrible idea, but oh well.
RE4 still has great atmosphere despite my complaint about the more open environments there. I'd say it hurts RE5 a lot more (doesn't help most of the outdoor environments are in the day). But in comparison to RE6 here... at least RE5 still felt kind of off the radar and remote in some lost area. This huge city crisis thing in RE6 is going to bug me a lot. lol
And Capcom have completely lost their marbles with co-op/partner design in EVERYTHING and especially all over the RE series. It's been such a breath of fresh air playing Silent Hill 1-2 and being ALONE! It changes the experience so much, for the better.

Needed to chime in on something that came up about a dozen pages back:
Also, I was surprised by the dislike of Toejam & Earl. It's one of my top favorites, both in single player and co-op -- but I get that it moves too slowly for some. If its pace is the major problem, it helps to play with a friend who's committed to powering through several hours and several bowls of popcorn with you in a stategic joint attempt. When my best childhood friend and I beat it for the first time growing up, we shared one of the most intense high-fives of my life. Good times.
I would subscribe to this channel without hesitation. Especially if you rambled on passionately and semi-coherently, like that old guy at the beginning of Beetlejuice.ZeroAX wrote:If you are going to wear a fake big grey beard and talk about video games while you are sitting on a rocking chair and holding a banjo, I'd watch it.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I have a pretty nice camcorder....
