They are presented like Wii Sports mini-games, but were a lot more physically intensive. Games like tight rope walking and keeping your balance, or leaning on the balance board to tilt a table to get balls through holes. They seem harmless, but then you realize you are breaking a sweat. They also had ski slalom and ski jump which were a blast. I loved the game for the stupidest game of all time, free run. You just have the controller and nunchuk and you run in place through a park with other miis and stuff...there was just something very charming about it...it was weird.ZenErik wrote:What sorts of mini games did the original have? I really don't know much about it. No one I hang out with owned it, and I never did much research on it. Wii Sports sorts of mini games or ones that involve a little more actual work out?

Wii Fit was actually pretty enjoyable. I've had great fun on those mini games. I'm looking forward to trying out the new Wii U version.

What I also always say is that Sonic on the Mega Drive slowed you down right before you run into a tight platforming section (for example by ending a loop by sending you skywards, and then you slowly fall back on the ground, and thus have "organically" come to a stop, unlike modern 2D Sonic games which just put a wall in front of your face to stop you).RyaNtheSlayA wrote: The speed was a reward for being good at games a lot of times, and while you could take an obvious fast route, usually all the goodies were hidden on the alternate, more platforming-centric routes.
I think what ZeroAX, and a lot of other people who like the old Sonic games understand, is that Sonic isn't 100% about going fast. So these complaints from critics that Sonic is now slow, when he wasn't always fast all the time, are really kind of strange. It's almost like the critics lack an understanding of what Sonic was just as much as Sonic Team seems to in a lot of cases. Perhaps that's the problem with the new games too. Reading the Jim Sterling review of this new game, he even mentions how it seems like every new game tries to reinvent what Sonic is, and that they really need to stick to a formula now.
Yeah this game has gotten a major beating by critics. I won't complain about critics and just accept that the game might be bad. I will just have to check it out myself to know.

A tempting proposition, but Nintendo will get that canned. They always do.s1mplehumar wrote:Ooooooooo! I want this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Nintendo-W ... 7675.l2557

Selling a dev kit for a current gen console seems like a really bad idea.

And it is gone.
Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
its cool that the controller had the originally planned circle pads instead of the standard analogue sticks we have. I was bummed when they updated the design and scrapped the circle pads, I love it on the 3ds.

I absolutely hate circle pads. But I understand why it was necessary for the clamshell design.

Is Jim Sterling the guy from Destructoid? Because supposedly that guy gave Sonic Colors a 4.5RyaNtheSlayA wrote:The speed was a reward for being good at games a lot of times, and while you could take an obvious fast route, usually all the goodies were hidden on the alternate, more platforming-centric routes.Violent By Design wrote: Outside of Sonic 1, I thought the other Sonics were pretty fast paced.
That's what people liked about Sonic, choice and variety of play. Yeah you can go fast but, you don't have to. You can go get all those Chaos Emeralds but you'll have to hunt for them, or you could just not go get them and blaze through the game. You can jump across those narrow platforms over the water in Aquatic Ruin Zone to get to the end the fastest (and hardest way) or you can simply jump into the water and slug through it to the end.

I have never played Sonic Colors for Wii but I heard it was a good game.
Edit: yeah he's that guy
